Hi All, Here is the link to the European CMA charts. http://www.europeancma.com/chart.htmOne of my co-writes, "Back To Country", has been playing all over the world exc. here. It is currently #29 on the European country music charts. Maybe someday they'll play it in Texas. It's done by Paul Street, on his album Streetwise, an indie CD released in May 2007.

Wow John
Big mighty congratulations there! Hey the stuff they got playing on the radio passing as "Country" music these days is rotten to the core I think songs in this vein need to be popular again back when country was really "cool" (ie before Big & Rich) Sincere Blessings Derek

John, Just an awesome lyric, super arrangement. I have no problem knowing why it is playing...that said....My son could have sung the livin' heck out of this one...too bad you didn't get to him first.check out this link. He's the frontman in a band called Branded (on the left side of the big photo) My older son is the drummer(sitting in middle of pic). They do most of their own writing and will record some of mine on the next cd, I hope. At least that is the plan. But he could have done a great job on Back To Country....great song. Check them out though. Janice Hopkins (link below) http://www.myspace.com/brandedband

Hi Derek,
Thanks for the look, the listen, and the nice words. I was country a long time before it was cool. This is one of my autobiographic songs. I wrote the lyric, and my friend and demo guy, Paul Street, did the music and cut it on his first indie CD. This ones a little too country for the big town. Thanks again.

Hi Janice,
TY, TY, TY. I agree, your son would have done very well with thissun'. You can send him to the sites below and see if he likes anything there. I think he will really like "Redneck", and "Two Stool Woman". There are others there I think will fit his style and voice, but those two stand out. If he writes music, I have others not put to music he might be interesed co-writing. Thanks again.

Congratulations John, fine song. Here's to getting a number one.
Check those European charts and send tunes to other artists who appear there, especially newcomers. Today Europe, tomorrow...Nashville!
All the Best, Mike

Hi Jean,
Thanks for the listen, and the nice compliments. Glad you like it. We're hoping it climbs high enough to use the # as a pitch to Nashville. Thanks again.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the listen, glad you like it. That sounds like great advice. I have a couple of European co-writers, and that might work out very well. I will definitely look into it. Thanks again.

Hi Kaley,
Thank you Ma'am. It hasn't started playing here yet, but we hope to use the airplay overseas to get airplay over here. We will start pushing it out to indie stations here very soon. Here's hopin'.

Hi Steve,
Thank you very much. Hillcrest puts out compilation CD's Strictly for radio airplay in the overseas markets. You pay them a small fee, and they promote it to those radio markets. Right now, our song is playing all over Europe, the Netherlands, Asia, Australia etc. I think it was money well invested.

Hi Chuck.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. It just hit #19 in Europe. I have been talking to the artist, Paul Street, about looking for a promoter/distributer for his CD over there. With a little bit of luck....

Congratulations John.Do you ever get any airplay royalties from these overseas stations? I've gotten a fair amount of airplay over there but little royalties seem to find their way back to me.I did have a band from Denmark record one of my songs and I did receive some royalties for airplay on that song,it took a long time to filter back to me though.I don't know how the PRO survey the stations over there.

Hi Everett,
Thank you. I'm not sure how it works yet, but BMI tells me that they do monitor, and that I will be getting royalties from airplay anywhere in the world. I wanted to make sure I'd be paid too. I haven't gotten paid yet, but they tell me it takes a bit longer to filter down. I think part of the key, is informing your PRO that it will be getting airplay. Thanks again.

John,
It takes 12 -18 months to get paid! I checked with BMI international and that seems to be the lead time. Brutal! So they know about it anyway. I'm on it cowboy! Keep it kuntry y'all!

Hi John,
That's great. A slow and steady climb is better I think then hitting no#1 real quick since it gets more plays getting to the top, hence more royalties if my math is correct.
Best, Lynn

Hi Paul,
Thank you. That's what they told me too. It seems like a long time, but if it ain't in my pocket, I can't be out spending it. It's about a year here for my Halloween song royalties too.

Hi Lynn,
Thank you. And I believe you're right. An airplay is an airplay, whether the song is on or off the charts. The only thing nice about being on the charts is you usually get more requests when you're there. It also increases your chances of selling CD's or downloads. I'm just glad to see something getting good airplay. Thanks again.

Hi Mike,
Thank you again kind sir. My cowriter is looking into promoters over there to put his full CD out. That would be a big boost to the airplay. When I get back to town, we'll have to start working on some more to push over there. Keep your eyes open for talented vocalists, I'll be down in Aug.
