I'd like to hear your impressions of this one...whose music might you think of when reading it, what you might change to get it just right....

VISIONS (PEACE TO HYSTERIA)

Another tour, another burning stage
Hear those haunting screams
For a couple of hours we feel the rage
Living out your dreams

Traveling down that long open road
Wake up in some hotel
Around 8 or 9 we’re set to explode
‘Cause we got records to sell

Visions within----- Peace to Hysteria
Listen to those guitars
Madness again---- Peace to Hysteria
Your proxy superstar

We worked hard to headline our shows
Playin’ all those small towns
Got a record out, and now life just flows
The money man likes our sound

There’s one thing I never say out loud
The time and place ain’t right
Guess it looks like fun playin’ to the crowd
But I sure am lonely at night

Visions within----- Peace to Hysteria
Please pick up the phone
Madness again--- Peace to Hysteria
Ridin’ that big bus alone

Yeah, I lived my dream, I played my song
Rode a horse to the mountain king
Lookin’ back, I’ve been gone too long
And now I can’t change anything

Visions within---- Peace to Hysteria
Life is nothing if lived in vain
Madness again--- Peace to Hysteria
Until only my ghost remains

home and loving it
Snake,

it is kind of funny to see this, and not be hearing it. you would need a better musician than me to put music down that these words discribe.

good luck with it.

Snake,

This is a smart lyric, with poetic and insightful images throughout. The writing and the story both come across as authentic and personal. Which, IMO, is all that matters.

Now as far as similarities or comparisons go, I would definitely say "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" immediately came to mind... especially the track titled: "Wig in a Box". Of course it's a completely different story (by a mile and two feet) but it has the right vibe. Which may or may not impress you - but it's a track/album worth pursuing.

All the best,
Dog

The idea of going from the quiet solitude between shows, Peace, back to the screaming crowds and jammin' music, Hysteria, plays and needs the musical treatment to convey it.

Snake, don't you play guitar? Man, don't let the cops know. They won't let you stay in Nashville without playing guitar or somethin'! That's why you'll notice everybody fakes air guitar when the cops go by, so they think you're still songwriting on your way somewhere. If you ain't got one, you need a guitar man. You've got songs in ya, comin' through ya, and they're gonna keep coming, so you've got the rest of your life to learn it. And as for singing, some of my favorites sang with the voice they had and got along just fine.

There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you? www.garyeandrews.com

I don't play guitar, I don't sing, either.....I'm a writer who just happens to have a very rare insight into the lives of others.....
