I am a movie goer and love attending the theaters. I even like to watch the previews however as of late I get seriously ticked off at the majority of previews and how they are constructed. Lately they give away to much of the movie and sometimes I feel like saying why see the movie because I just saw all the best parts and I already know what the movie is about and how it will probably end. There is no surprise or mystery any more. Back in the days in wasn't like this and in a way the previews were just as much as entertaining art as the movies the are previewing. Does anyone remember the preview for the movie Alien? It started off a little slow with a kind of a heart beat in the sound track and it kept going faster and faster and the clips teased the hell out of you so that you didn't know what was going on but you got that it was a Science fiction piece. Then it got you with a saying of "In space no one can hear you scream." It then got people thinking now is this Sci-fi or is this horror? It didn't give a away the movie's plot or outline. Now in days, the movie previews give away to much of outline and plot so badly there is no driving curiosity to see the film and you often get "Well I will just go and see it when it comes out on DVD." A good example of this would be Waterhorse it looks like it may be a good family movie but I mean come on it gives away to much. I see that about 90% of all previews just this last decade (sigh counting in decades now)are all in this state of un-artistic audience teasing, it is a shame. Now there are some movies that are great and unique that actually do a preview right like what they did with the movie Alien. A good example is the up and coming movie titled 1-18-08 this is an awesome preview because you know that it is either about some disaster or is a monster movie. However what you don't know is what the disaster or monster may be. At first you may think that well it is just a new Godzilla movie but if you watch it come again the sound you hear isn't the classic trade mark roar of Godzilla or any other Toho movie monster. Some believe that it may be Cthulhu based on the work of H.P. Lovecraft but even though no matter how much I would like to believe that so far what we have seen it doesn't really fit the genre. Anyways this kind of preview is what set's people's curiosities aflame. Does anyone else feel the way I do?

I will NOT watch the previews because of that reason. THey give away the WHOLE movie...When they're done, it's like...WHy bother to see the movie now...I try and not even read anything in the paper either. Otherwise, while you're watching, you're thinking about the review rather than forming your own opinion.
