A lot has been going on musically for me as of late and I want to share a couple of things with my friends here at JPF...first a song I've written with Dale Peaden received a single song contract from a music row publisher this week. We are excited , the publisher has many years of experience and there is alot we can learn from him. Second, My CD I put out earlier this year ("Ready To Fly"- Moker Jarrett with Lucky Stiff) with songs I've written for the pop/rock market received a great review from a CBS Radio columnist and is featured on the net in 9 markets in the local music section right now. Here's the link to the review in Detroit... > http://www.detroitathome.com/Detail.aspx?dct=54&id=3055&mid=1682the other markets are...Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Chicago,Philadelphia, Denver, Washington DC,and Baltimore. I'm also doing some assignment writing for another publisher and hope there's some good news that follows from my efforts there as well. I'm really enjoying writing and feel like I'm in a good place with it all right now. Hope you all are well...and to the couple of co-writers on here I owe songs to right now, I will get to them, I just have been under the timeclock for a couple of projects, Melissa and John I haven't forgotten...Moker

Congratulations, Moker!!! All of those things are awesome. I live in Philly so I'll be sure to check the local publications to see if you're mentioned in any of the columns... we have so many that it might take a bit though.

Moker,
Congratulations. Hit some home runs for us JPF'ers. Even The Candles Cried is a winner, don't give in and don't give up.

Congratulations, Moker!! That is very very cool. They gave you a nice review there. That has to feel good. So you sound like "The Bill," huh? I hadn't picked that out! Hey Andrew, does that birthday cake by your name mean today's your birthday? I haven't seen that pop up on anyone before. Linda

I remember reading a post before where you were saying how you were going to be diligent and pour yourself into this and be more disciplined (I can't remember the exact words you used) but I remember the tone of commitment...well seems like it paid off! Congratulations on both fronts!
Best, Lynn

Moker, Congrats! I've admired your music on sound clicks for some time now. Hope your publisher gets your songs to some great artists! Quick question for ya... I've heard you talk about being a member of songU. I'm just now becoming more serious about my songwriting and was wondering if in your opinion courses on songU helped you get to where you are? or...
Thanks and congratualtions once again!
Nate

That's great news -- congrats on the song contract and the great review! I think the "Bill" reference is pretty funny, but also complimentary. I believe that part was sung by Bob Dorough.

Charlann, Thank You alot, but right now my footsteps only lead to my little home studio in Jacksonville, but maybe if I keep writing I'll find a spot to slip a few tunes into somebody who can take 'em where I hope they end up, on the radio...ha...Moker

Moker,
Lisa and I waited forever for you to thank us or even acknowledge the significant line change I wrote for you -- that you quickly edited in to this song --because she encouraged me to focus on it.
It was especially disconcerting because of the important place our gift to you occupied in the song -- the VERY LAST LINE!
We gave you: IT CAME AS NO SURPRISE, even the candles cried.
Good luck though, Terry

Terry, As I wash down the crow let me apologize for not acknowleding your help, thank you very much. Don't get your feathers ruffled too much, I'll explain, this songs lyric was mostly written by Dale and it went through six or seven rewrites at the same time there were 6 or 7 more songs going to demo status, and we were assignment writing for another publisher to try and get a couple cuts on a cd that was being put together, don't think I made the cut on that one. Let me also thank you for sending John Selleck my way, I have written music to a lyric of his that I have going through my coach at songU right now. And if there's anyone else out there I've forgotten to thank, THANKS. Terry, I consider you a friend in this biz, often that's where an individuals strength lies is within his/hers circle of friends, and one can never have too many of those, sorry for the oversight, just been a little overwhelmed with the business end of this thing. Thank you too Lisa...Moker

Hi Moker, Well you surely and gracefully made up for the oversight! I think you will have also succeeded in restoring Lisa's opinion of you -- prior to what seemed like an underestimation of her unselfish efforts -- which had always been one of respect for your professionalism, songwriting and social graces. You're very welcome, Terry
