My family just moved to Spring Hill from central IL. Surprisingly enough it had nothing to do with my music! My husband got offered a job in Franklin, so we decided to take the plunge and start a new life.
I am a singer/songwriter and a Christian one at that. My first release was mediocre. I just recorded an EP in April. It's being mastered right now. It is SOOOOO much better. I like the improvement.
If I could have picked anywhere that I DIDN'T want to move to, it was Nashville. The reason being I feel like a really small fish in a really big pond. There are so many talented people here and I feel out of sorts. I don't even know where to look for venues to book, who to hire to play for me, etc. So if anyone can give me ANY information about this....I would really appreciate it.

My own experience here in Nashville has been one of one of love and appreciation for the overwhelming talent that does exist in this place. I have literally met musicians on the sidewalk whose music was equal to or above anyone that I have ever paid to see.
Take a walk down Broadway Ave. on a Saturday night, and listen to the street players........Catch a live show on the Riverfront....Go to a writer's night or nine....Meet folks.
Take a plunge, indeed.

Welcome Erisa,
Great town here. Very musician friendly, but gigs are hard to come by...too many pickers will work for free. Lots of open stages and writer's nights, though. Pick up a copy of the Nashville Scene or get online and you'll find a bunch of writer's nights, open stages, and venues.
Some of my favorite places are Nashville Cowboy Church; the Hermitage, Andrew Jackson's home; the Belle Mead Masion; Percy Priest Lake; the Loveless Motel Cafe; the Narrows of the Harpeth; the Opryland Hotel and Opryland Mills mall; the San Antonio Taco Company; Demos' Restuarants; Radnor Lake; Green Hills Mall; the Barn Dinner Theater; Long Hunter State Park; the Ryman Auditorium; and that's all just scratching the surface.
Keep checking back here, we'll be having a JPF Roadtrip and Pineyfest here soon, and don't forget Popcorn's Songwriter Festival coming up in a week.
All the Best, Mike
You've got to know your limitations. I don't know what your limitations are. I found out what mine were when I was twelve. I found out that there weren't too many limitations, if I did it my way. -Johnny Cash It's only music. -niteshift Mike Dunbar Music

Hi there Erisa,
Welcome to Middle Tennessee!! I work in Columbia which is directly south of you! If you are free...wander down this way some day and I'll take you to lunch at one of my favorite hangouts here in town. There's a great Songwriters Night every month at Square Market Cafe' that is NOT to be missed!!
Nearly every Wednesday evening I try to get up to Nashville for the Songwriter Night at LYRIX on the corner of Peabody and First.
I also am the coordinator of Pineyfest. There is a lot of info on that here on JPF on Lyric Forum 3. It is three days and nights of great music and great people...mostly JPF'rs from all over the country (and even a few other countries) who enjoy getting together once a year to share music and make memories. Would love to have you join us...you WILL make friends there!! One of the workshop sessions will be on Christian music.
I can send you more info if you are interested.
Big welcome hugs, Bobbie

Bobbie...that sounds like it would be nice to get together. It would probably have to be a Saturday, as I have four kids! Eric is off on the weekends.
Mike- thanks for the info. I'll be sure to check into those.
Snake- thanks also.

Welcome Erisa! I too am new here to Nashville, having moved here three months ago, and I just love it!
It being you are a Christian artist, I'd like to recommend you check out a warm, wonderful gathering known as Cafe Forte. It meets every Monday at 7 p.m. at Edgehill Studios Cafe near Music Row. You will find support and encouragement there...that's Cafe Forte's main purpose.
