Hey all... I'm vacationing with my family up in the Traverse Area this summer and would love to grab a set somewere up that way while I'm there.
Any of y'all know of any places that would book an unknown guy like me as an acoustic act? I'll be staying in the Elk Rapids area.
Thanks!!!

Hey Todd!
Hmmmm....if you go a little farther north to Petoskey, I think the Perry Hotel does some open mics. Not 100% sure tho.
Lemme axe around. I have some clients up that way (I'm an advertising writer).

Well now, I'm an Advertising writer, too! And I know the Perry very well. Sunday brunch is a must, but the kids have a rough time sitting for another hour in the car, after a 5.5 hour trip less than a week before. Especially for an open mic. (Although, if it's early enough, they might actually enjoy that!) Oh, and by the way... have you had the Grand Traverse Brewing Co. Stout? We always come home with a couple of 6-packs when we go up there. Thanks, Tim

Hah! Where do you work? I'm a writer/producer (& occasional voice talent) at a small agency here in GR. Staffords (Perry Hote, Bay View Inn, Pier and Weathervane Restaurants) are clients.
I was thinking the Noggin Room did open mics, but I could be wrong.
I've have a mug or two of the Stout in my day. ;-)

It was a good experience and a lot of fun, but these days, I do not want the hassle (and overtime) of the big, downtown agencies. Family is more important and this company treats me well.

Got THAT!
I worked for some big ones in Detroit....Bozell Worldwide, Y&R.
Now I work for a small agency in a medium market, run by guys who have families themselves, and do their best to get us out by 5:00. It's a beautiful thang.
