I picked up the latest on the long running Bond series the new "Casino Royal" I saw yet another NEW James Bond actor. Of course as usual the cover read "The Best Bond In Franchise History"
I laughed and thought what a Bunch of crap.

I was so shocked & happy to see the writers return James Bond to Ian Flemmings book character.
James Bond is supposed to be a stoned face, hard core killer, he is rough and a bit of a brute. Like the Eagles song says "Brutally Handsome"

I didn't want to but I liked Daniel Craig and more so the way they portrayed him.

He was scarred, brusied, cut, scratched, bloodied and seriously had his B*lls broken in this film. Perfect!
Of course Sean Connery's the man! And as a kid I always liked Roger Moore in the SAint! his style is the best of the pretty lover boy Bonds! Plus his films have the Greatest Tunes!

The villain was rather disappointing in this latest film and the ending twist could have been a bit more favorable. I wasn't expecting much, so I was happy!

Good to see Bond back to being ian Flemmings Bond a licenesed killer smile

Thanks!
Peace Mike

I thought it was really well done. There was only one bad scene and it was when he was professing his love to the Bond girl. He was so over the top and cheesy with it our mouths were hanging open in disbelief. Of course we all knew how it would end and it did end as we suspected.. but man.. there was 1 page of dialog that just SUCKED bad. The rest was really well done and just like the Batman franchise, I think they finally got it right. Daniel Craig is perfect for the role. Christian Bale is perfect as Batman. The two franchise transformations are very similar. Serious bad ass actors in serious bad ass roles. I am looking forward to the next installment in both series.

I have to agree 1000% Bri that part shocked me to.
It was almost like an Austin Powers spoof smile I knew right then and there too that the girl was history.
I didn't think she was misleading him however. If she had just been murdered it would have been a way of bringing him back in an as cold blooded as ever.
But I guess it still works. The opening chase scene was crazy man.

Christian Bale - I first saw him years ago in the movie "American Psyco" and loved it.
The whole 80's thing the city vibe and him and is A hole friends, it was very entertaining to me.
The new Batman which I really liked was what i thought the Michael Keaton Batman was gonna be back then. So that Batman kinda dissappointed me but of course over time i grew to like for it's own thing as Jack Nicholson put on a clinic as The Joker.

The new Batman had so many cool actors if was unbelievable, from the well known to new some kids. Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Liam Nelson, Gary Oldman, Rutger Hauer Katie Holmes the guy from "Last Samurai" and many good character actors as well .
And the explaination of how Batman gets his gagets was so much more realistic.
And that Batmobile made from the Army vehicle. Cool Stuff!

I'm looking forward as well, before they go to original ones I wouldn't mind seeing Goldfinger again. I can't beleieve I'm actually looking for re-makes now lol...

Thanks!

I first saw Christian Bale as the lead young boy in Empire of the Sun. He was AMAZING in that and knowing he's the brilliant actor today as he was back then is really cool. He's also quite a freak. If you ever get a chance, watch the film "The Machinist." It's weird film, but what it is famous for is that Christian Bale nearly starved himself to death to do the part. He went from a thin 180 pounds to a scary death like 120.. he wanted to go to 100 pounds but the director and others demanded he stop before he killed himself. He lived for months on a single apple and can of tuna a day. Scary scary stuff. When you see him you'll freak out!

The Machinist first time I saw it I really liked it, the second time I Loved it.
He was freaking me out the whole time I can't believe he did that, then he goes the other way like in American Psycho where he is in fantastic shape and all cut.
The guy is dedicated and possessed I can relate to that smile except for the fantastic shape part lol...

I'm gonna throw a female perspective in here, since I finally had the chance last night to watch the new James Bond film. I have to say, I do love Bond movies...and Sean Connery will always be my favorite.... BUT (isn't there always one) Daniel Craig was amazing.

It's like Mike said....he was truly what Bond was intended to be: rugged and tough but still sexy (at least from a gal's view). & about that cheesy part...let's face it guys...they gotta bring the female audience in somehow...right? Ok...granted, the parts where he walks around half naked didn't hurt that, but what better way to suck the female persuasion in than to make 007 seem attainable, like he IS capable of real love instead of simply a cold hearted killer. I must say, I think they took a little far, but I see where they were going with it. And as I'm sure we all predicted, in the end, he came back to reality as the Bond we all love.

I will say though....I'm proud of them for not taking the obvious route with the girl...I was fully expecting her to just get killed off & tick him off in the process. But this was much better...this way he's not just pi**ed off, he's also extrememley jaded!!! which is much harder to get past emotionally.

smile
Bree

Casino Royale was the last of Ian Fleming books to be made into a "real" Bond movie. There was a spoof of Casino Royale filmed in 67' I believe with David Niven, Peter Sellers and Woody allen all playing James Bond. The sound track featured Herb Alpert and the Tijiuana Brass and Dusty Springfield. Loved the music but the movie was too silly. There was a TV play that aired in the early 50's called Casino Royale based on Ian Flemings book. I would love to see that. I believe Fleming lived to see Dr. No and From Russia With Love made into movies before he died. A few years after his death Octopussy and The living Daylights were found in a locked safe and were published as short stories. If you read Flemings novels you will notice that the movies were quite different. Ben
