How much of the selling price is due to the studio versus the going rate for a house with those same stats without a studio in that area?

Man... Here in Seattle you couldn't touch this kind of a spread for $540K, nevermind the 3 acres OR the studio. Prices here stink. Not that that's helpful, probably... but... sounds like a steal from my angle.  Linda

It's funny how different market prices are. In Indy you could get that same house for much much less. Indy is the least expensive big city in the US for housing. Which is why we live here! We got a gigantic house in a great neighborhood in one of the best school systems for less than a 600 square foot rat trap in LA. Anyone looking for a great quality of life and an amazing house for pennies on the dollar compared to most other cities, check out Indianapolis. It's the 13th largest city but feels like a small modern hometown.

We moved from Kansas City, which is next to Indianapolis in low prices-- to Seattle. Ouch, ouch, ouch.
Our home here cost more than double what we were able to sell for (after 5 months on the market) in Kansas City. I try not to think about what I coulda' had in Missouri for the same price.
I try not to complain much--I'm not all that materialistic, and I *do* really, really love being here. But you know it's sad when even my four-year-old could tell the old house was better! ~LOL~

I couldn't help feeling the price would be more attractive if the components were reversed--i.e., the house were $50,000 and the studio were $500,000. As a former real estate agent (I have done many things in my long and checkered career), I have a real problem with today's housing prices. Portland (Oregon), which is two hours away by bad road, is one of those expensive housing markets in the U.S., and the Coast is even worse because it's Vacation Heaven. But there aren't the incomes to support those kind of housing prices.
My grandfather used to say, "Never pay more'n $5,000 for something unless it's got a foundation under it." I used to quote him a lot when I looked at houses. Now, I quote him when I look at *cars*...

Well,
I don't think I will be moving to Nashville unless a couple of my songs hit and I make a million or two. According to information around here there has been no slowdown in new housing starts. They are building 4 new houses in my sub division right now and clearing the lot next to me now. Houses may be starting around $225,000 and up in here. We had a circut breaker fail recently and the electrician who came out said he had 8 new houses he couldn't get to. A new shopping area is being built about 4 miles down the road and new construction of banks etc, seem to be croping up everywhere. It is amazing of all that is being built. Before long we will look just like Florida. I get a flyer about every month from some realtor to see if we want to sell. We just got here. We kept our old house in case the bottem drops out.
Some places over on the Island you can buy lots in the millions.

you might want to check out a contest that a couple in nixa
missori are doing to sell there house. They are raffling it off
at a hundred dollars per chance of winning based on a maximum of 6000 entries under the rules of a contest based on creative writing skill of why one should win their house. It is novel
in approach and is being sponsored thru 40/29tv.com under
win my house.
