Hi Folks,
I'll start this off by asking what Video camera gear you all have? Here are JPF Central we have a Canon XL2. It's a great digital camera which we got a great deal on before the 2004 awards. Oddly enough the selling price on it has gone UP 8 dollars over what we paid for it. On the deal we also got a Canon xi camera which was awesome. Somehow the camera and bag it was in mysteriously vanished and we've never figured out what happened or how and where it could have been lost or stolen.
The XL2 is a big camera, which is the downside. But we know we can keep growing into it. It is tempting to switch to hi def but the reality is that most software programs and computers can't really handle it very well, so we'll stick with this for now.
Anyone else out there have Video camera gear?

I have some... I'm just embarassed to post it because I wish I had anything made in the last 15 years. I have an old Sony 8mm handycam, not even a hi8, just an 8. I don't really use it anymore, for all I know it doesn't work. I used to do a lot of documenting/filmmaking, but after film school and a stint in the entertainment industry and a career change out of frustration I kind of let all that lapse. I do plan to take it up again once I have money for such toys.

Well, at least the prices are coming down and the tech is going up and up. When you're ready to get back in you'll be able to get stuff you never dreamed of for dirt cheap comparably.

Hey Brian
I have a fujifilm Finepix s9000. That is great at regular pictures though it also doubles as a full vhs video camera. Does 30 fps and has great features for getting those movies. Also since the price of 4 and 8 gig memeory cards has plummeted the price of reusable media is really nice. This camera now retails for around 400$ which for what you get is a steal. The camera part has macro shots capability and it also has antivibration settings. It's a nine megapixel so you can get real good shots and blow them up big. Would like to some day get a straight ahead video camera but for now this one works just great! It's also rather light weight and has a color view finder (LCD) Derek
