Hey all!
I'm moving to Fayetteville NC this April and it's a HUGE step away from New York City...so I'm looking for places to play, festivals to play at, open mics, other musicians who would wanna get together, anything...I've never lived in the south before. I've also been in NYC for five years so going back to the country is gonna be a big change too, so any and all info anyone has on being a performing musician in NC would be great!
Thanks!
Ophir Drive:)

Hi Ophir,
Sorry no one responded to you sooner. I've just become moderator of this board and noticed your post. After visiting your Myspace, it seems you're doing fairly well for yourself! Kudos. Have you visited Asheville yet? It's probably the biggest music/arts scene in the entire state of NC. If you haven't played there yet, you shoud. I believe there's a venue called The Orange Room (or just Orange?) and many national acts play there. But plenty of smaller clubs and coffee shops too. The whole town is insane about art/music. Every year there is Ashefest.
Belle Chere Festival is also in NC. Huge deal especially for female singer-songwriters like yourself.
Let me know if you need radio info, I know some folks at various NC stations. I also toured this Summer in the Outer Banks, which was incredible, but not sure if there is a scene for solo artists (more of a band and/or party-band scene I think, and VERY seasonal).
