Hi Folks,
We are revamping the chapter system and this city needs a new coordinator. If you are interested in learning more, please visit the General Chapter Discussion Board for more info and to answer and ask questions. (It's easier to do it all in one place!). We will require that you are VERY active on the message boards including your own city board.
Thanks in advance!
Brian

Brian, I'd love to volunteer, but having attended several meetings over the past year,{often I was the ONLY attendee!} I've come to realize that there are only 3 active members in our chapter {myself, Orlando Luckey, and Lizz Zorn} and a few other stragglers who are unreliable. If you have some idea's on how to revive this thing let me know! {Not to mention,I'm currenly playing 7 gigs a week,{2 on fridays!} and hosting a radio show one day a week, and I don't think I have the time to devote the proper attention it would require.

Yep, that's about it BC. We have been swamped with day job business over the past few months, and I have not been able to do much in regards to JPF. As you know, it is not in anyones interest to set upo meetings that only one or two people attend. The last few emails I sent out were only responded to by either Bob or Ornaldo. Brian I have never heard a word from you about anything. Liz Zorn

Liz,
I haven't been aware you were even trying to do anything. How come you never copied me on any emails or contacted me about anything? The reason I want to get a chapter going is we are going to do our first Roadtrip stop in Cincy (if I get a greenlight from the doctors to hit the road) and it's always the best time to get folks to come out and get involved. We normally average 30+ performers at a Roadtrip show and if we get close to that in Cincy then that would be a good start for a chapter. You'll never get a chapter going just by trying to do it via the message boards. The message board crowd on average isn't typically the same as the crowd that comes to Roadtrip shows or chapter meetings. (You guys being the exception of course).
So if there have been attempts in Cincy to do anything in the last year, I am totally out of the loop. I agree that you should never have a meeting unless at least 10 folks are interested. Otherwise it's waste of time.

Brian, Actually I had been the Cincinnati coordinator. We had several meetings and a few events. One member had a standing songwriters group that met monthly, but that has since closed. Over the last year. the response for meetings and participation was two or three people., So I did not have meetings. for me to set up a meeting and drive 45 minutes to a place where no one but me and maybe one other person shows up, is a waste of time. Not to mention rude and irresponsible on the part of those who commit to coming. and then don't show up. I never used the boards to organize the chapter, it was all local networking. I did post information on the borads when it was available. But honestly, if people are not interested, I am not going to keep bugging them to participate. If you want to get someone else to give it a try, I have no problem with that. I gave it a shot. We did have some good moments. But overall. I am not sure how to organize this area. There are people in Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Indiana, who would fit the Cincy chapter demographic. It is so spread out, that even a central location for meetings, can have folks driving for 45 minutes to an hour just to get to a meeting.
Bob - Hey guy. it's been awhile. I have been great. Very busy, but great. I know that you are a workaholic too. Be well . Liz

I tried a couple of years ago to get the chapter up and running. Posted here, sent emails to folks, tried talking to some locals I knew ... couldn't get more than a couple folks willing to come. I had gotten a few people's email addresses from Zak Morgan who had also tried to get a chapter going here. There is another songwriters group that was already established in the area and really active, so that probably hurt. Most of the members already were doing a few nights each week either going to meetings or playing venues that they didn't want to add another meeting to their schedule. I wound up having some family situations come up and could not commit to putting the time in myself. Wish I had a magic solution for you.

It's the NSAI SWS Group. We are basically one group but split into two NSAI chapters -- Dayton and Cincinnati. Here's the link to the website to get info: http://www.southbrooksongwriters.com/I don't think the website is maintained on a regular basis though. Not sure you can access this but it is the Yahoo Groups link: http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/DayCinNSAI/If you need contact info, let me know. Mary Lou
