Hi Folks, Murphy's law... it's more a life mantra this year than anything else.
I haven't been on line since Tuesday morning because we had a storm and lighting hit our house and knocked out Phones, Internet and Cable for 4 days. They just got it all back on. Of course I have thousands of emails and tons of fires burning and once again have missed multiple days on my Blog. So much for keeping a daily record. = )
It looks like we'll probably simply return to the venue we did the 2004 Music Awards at. It's a great place, the only 2 drawbacks were that it wasn't in Hollywood and that it was too small. This means we can't sell more tickets and have to raise the ticket price just to break even from the last time. What we'll likely do is eliminate the food (you can order directly from the venue and spend as much or little as you want and get it brought to your table instead of a buffet line) and keep the price as close to last time as possible, though doing the math we'll likely need to raise it a little still. The good news is that we know the venue works, the sound is good, the lights were right and the staff will know what to expect again for the most part. I hope to finish this stuff up by the start of next week.
On other news, we're finishing the last category for round 3 (yes, it's taken 10 days more than we hoped) and now we're moving into final judging that will produce the nominations. (Round 4 and Round 5 are sort of simultaneous). Normally this would take about 90 days, but we only have 30 to get it done.. so looks like more buring the midnight oil to so speak.
I missed all the TV shows I usually watch (it's my sanity break from the awards stuff) so I don't know how JPFers faired on Rockstar Supernova or America's Got Talent. Did anyone else watch? I also missed Last Comic Standing, so I need to find out what's going on. Last weekend we saw our first movie of 2006 in theaters, Pirates of the Carribean, and thought it was great. Already looking forward to part 3 next year.
Hopefully my blogs can get back on track and I can catch up on everything over the weekend. Have a safe one everyone!
Brian
