Hey songwriters and song lovers, Next week there are two cool songwriting events. Tues June 7 is our monthly Songwriter Workshop at the Putney Library in Putney VT at 7pm. Bring a song and copies of your typed lyrics to hand out (very important!). Last month we had 10 people. It's a good event with thoughtful and constructive feedback. Tell your songwriting buddies. Wed June 8 is the Just Plain Folks songwriter showcase in Brattleboro, VT at The Church (corner of Grove and Main across from Bratt Post office) at 7pm. Very cool space. It will go till about 11pm. Brian Whitney, the visionary founder of JPF will be hosting and videoing the event for a documentary. If you haven't met Brian you need to. He is one of the most important players in the indie music world right now, runs a great songwriting contest and is a great guy. JPF's motto is "We're all in this together" and that about sums up the inclusive spirit of the organization. This is a great networking opportunity for you. Take it. There are already 25 songwriters signed up to play 2 songs each. There is still room for more performers. You will need to sign up for the Just Plain Folks showcase via their website. Go to the link below (FAQ site), then read or scroll down till you get to the part where it asks you to fill out the information about yourself for the showcase. Follow instructions and send it in. No money is involved although Brian Whitney requests that you make a small donation or buy a JPF t shirt or hat to support the tour if you can. He is doing this for free and does an amazing job. You need to sign up on the JPF site so that Brian Whitney has a roster of who is performing so he can keep track of the lists for each showcase (he's doing about 25 nights on this leg of the tour). All of your questions about the showcase are probably answered in the FAQ link below: http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/Forum9/HTML/000128.html

"Money is worst reason to be motivated NOT to do anything. Instead of letting those concerns STOP you, use it to motivate yourself to find an alternate solution that bypasses money. You will soon find that your own resourcefulness is worth far more than a pile of paper money." –Brian Austin Whitney
