I wanted to learn more about the European PRO's and what they do or don't do compared to the US ones. Do any of you have an opinion to share on yours?

Hi. Me again. Things are moving on the PRO front. As I don't have all the latest news, I'll stick to the one I know. Sabam in Belgium does a reasonable job for a population of 10 million that is split between two language groups (Dutch and French) and dominated by the TVs of Holland and France (although we also get the BBC, Turkish, Italian and a host of others on cable). Sabam handles mechanicals and performance rights. As the different PROs apply different rates for historical reasons, there has been pressure on them to harmonise. This has proven difficult, but I was reading that the Sabam and Holland's Stemra are currently actively lookng at wasy of co-operating on the mechanicals since last February. That's a good start. I welcome any and all info on the various PRO's and how they work together, what services they offer to members etc.. Just trying to compare their work to our US PRO's.
