Proceeds will go to the New Orleans Musicians Clinic


Richard Carr and O'Flaherty's Irish Channel Pub are pleased to announce the 2004 Original Music Series Benefit, to be held at O'Flaherty's Irish Channel Pub located at 514 Toulouse Street in the French Quarter. On April 27 and 28, the Original Music Series Benefit will feature the original music of over 60 singer-songwriters from New Orleans and around the country. NOT ONE COVER TUNE WILL BE PLAYED THESE TWO NIGHTS. The beneficiary of these extraordinary nights of original music will be the New Orleans Musicians Clinic, which provides low-cost health care to local musicians in need. Admission will be $15 for one night and $20 for both nights of great original music.

The format for each evening will be half-hour sets by performers on four stages, all located at O'Flaherty's Irish Channel Centre & Pub (514 Toulouse, near Decatur St. in the French Quarter). Stages will be located in the Ballad Room, The Informer Pub, Dun Aengus Lounge, and the courtyard. Two stages will rotate artists on the half-hour and the other two stages will change on the quarter-hour, guaranteeing continuous music from 7 PM through 1 AM. A special guest artist will be announced for each night and will be the only performer during that 45 minute set.

The "Original Music Series", presented by Richard Carr, gives creators of original music, regardless of genre, a chance to perform and present their music to the public. These special two nights of performances during the week of JazzFest will allow both out-of-town visitors and local music lovers the chance to see the best singer-songwriters in one location, and for a great cause.

A CALL FOR ARTISTS

Writers of original music, in any genre, who would like to participate in this special event are encouraged to contact Richard Carr by phone, email or mail. Artists from outside the New Orleans area are also encouraged to perform, especially if they are going to be in New Orleans during the week between Jazz Fest weekends. Since the entire evening is a benefit, there is no compensation for performing, but free food and drinks will be provided. Sales of merchandise will be permitted and encouraged.

All interested artists should contact or confirm participation by February 15, 2004.
