Tampa Bay JPFers, Our January 2005 meeting/showcase is set for Sunday the 23rd, 4pm at Clancy's on Gulf to Bay Blvd. in Clearwater just west of Hwy 19. This is a restaurant/lounge so refreshment and food is availiable. Also Clancy's is a non smoking venue with a patio smoking area for those who wish to indulge in tobacco. A full backline will be availiable so bring your instrument and get ready to showcase a couple of your tunes along side some of the best independent artists in Tampa Bay. As always we encourage you to bring copies of your CDs to sell and/or trade also any promotional material of your upcoming gigs. We look forward to another very productive year making new friends and musical associations in our community. Also If you need some more "sound techs" there at 2, shout at me. Otherwise, see everyone there at 4. Looking forward to some cool tunes, serious jams, songwriters representing, and hanging out with a bunch of cool talented music-type people again!!!. The meeting is called for four oclock to allow members a meet and greet period of about 45 minutes to an hour then we will talk about some interesting issues concerning the chapter and the local scene. About 5 thirty or six we will start to showcase, but remember the sign up sheet will start filling up quickly during meet and greet and its first come so...... Our showcase will be over once we go through the list and if there is time to Jamm we will. We have stayed as late as midnight tearing down but are usually wrapped up by 10 - 10 thirty. Hey all, Just wanted to let you know Chris and I will have to miss this month's meeting. Chris is going to have surgery this coming week and he'll be very limited in what he can do for 6 weeks after. So, we have lots to accomplish this weekend while he's still physically capable. Hope everyone has a great time. -Sheila ------------------ Stop in at my virtual cafe to indulge in the arts Nubzilla's Cafe . I can bring our keyboard if it's needed, but if anybody wants to bring one of their own to play on, now's a good time to speak up.
Also, Mikey will not be with us for this one, but I will bring a drum mic kit in case there will be a drummer (Mikey mentioned Lorna may have a sub drummer for tomorrow?)
I will be there at 2:00. See you there.

AS I mentioned before, I can bring any gear you guys need that I own...but you guys have it all covered. That is cool!!! I can also (and would like to break in and) back up some performers when needed. I have played drums (my first instrument) for 34 years...although I sold my kit to buy studio gear a few years ago. I also play Bass, GTR, and Keys as well as sign Lead and BR vox. I am decent...not the best in the world...but I can play alright ...and jam on the fly. I know you guys have it all covered, but I am just letting you know, I can be an "ace" in the hole (or at least a 9 of spades!!) ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) Cheers! ------------------ Alex Wolfe Parnes/Canis Lupus Productions www.canislupusmusic.com

If you aren't bringing your keyboard then I'll be bringing mine - my keyboard is my guitar..haha! It's no problem for me to bring mine just checking to make sure you weren't bringing yours.
So, unless I hear elsewise, I'll bring my keys. : )

Yes, Tracee I was thinking of you, actually. if I don't have to bring mine, it lightens my load a little. Bring yours and we'll send the road crew out with a fork lift to carry it in:-)

These meetings just keep getting better. The quality of musicians, new and old is simply amazing. The 29th of this month will be my one year anniversary with Just Plain Folks. It has been the best year of my life. A very incredible journey that I want to continue on for many years to come. Thank you one and all for making the world a better place to live in. A real special thanks to Dan & Rich & Steve for performing one of my originals with me. JPF is responsible for putting this permanent smile on my face. Thanks!

Hey JPF, I just wanted to say thanks for letting me come up and play 2 of my tunes for all of you again. Thanks to Frank for the great monitor and mains mix, Dan for the "stage hand" assistance(and his tuner with the BRAND NEW STRINGS!!!), and all of JPF friends and family for just listening and not running from the room at top speed. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) Thanks again Al for all the great information sharing and the overall meeting. It was an awesome set of performances by very talented people and I am glad to be affiliated with all of you. I kinda had to blow out of there just before Carrie Pigeon went on and I was bummed cuz I was really looking forward to hearing her all night...but I will soon anyway at Cool Beans. Previous commitments... Until next time... Cheers. ------------------ Alex Wolfe Parnes/Canis Lupus Productions www.canislupusmusic.com

What an absolutely fabulous kickoff for the 2005 season of Tampa Bay Chapter of Just Plain Folks. With 12 new members joining us the headcount around half way through the evening was 46. Not counting folks who may have come and gone. Frank LaRosa brought in his KS Audio PA system and with the help of Andy Karpinski, Dan Copeland,Jerry Jakala, Richard Lounsberry and myself who also contributed amps etc.had our make shift stage up and running way ahead of schedual. I mention makeshift because we got bumped from the main room to a banquet room two hours before showtime. Buts thats another story.... The show must go on and it did. With a variety of Rock and Roll, Blues, Standards, Oldies,Bluegrass, Americana, Folk, and even a taste of the Appalacians. Allot of networking, catching up and a good old fashioned appreciation for the Independent Artist. Thank everyone who participated for adding your personal spices to our musical soup. Thanks, Jerry, for the compliment on our song "It's OK To Cry." Besides Kathy, I must also thank fellow JPF-er Robert Rose for his incredible piano playing and Dan Copeland for his logistics help and providing a second set of ears and suggestions during mixdown. The song is posted on the Stone Marmot website below. Remember, we're all in this together!!
