Greetings,
As a new member to JPF, I'd like to introduce myself as Jake Wiseman - a singin'/songwritin' guitarist primarily focused on the discipline of the Blues and other closely related genres.
Since 1971, I've pretty much been a full-time club maggot pounding pavement with power trios from Toronto to Texas to Tennessee. Although I've never had a 'hit' record, I've managed to do pretty good playing circuits all over USA & Canada - toughest and most frustrating part being the art (in itself) of keeping the team together...'alas poor Yoric'...
Arthritis of the wrists has taken away my club touring/4-set show abilities but it has not taken away the desire or ability to write/record and showcase my own works.
As a player, I use both acoustic & electric guitars in either conventional tunings or 'open' tunings for sliding. Since 1969, my choice of powered weapons are Teles & Strats played through '65 Deluxe Reverbs. On the more peaceful side, a Martin D-35 and my headshreader National TriCone do it when I don't have a good drummer and am runnin' solo. The acoustics are miked by Neumann km185 and pick-upped with EMG and Highlander.
In closing, thanks to Al Alvarez and the Tampa Bay Chapter of JPF for the invitation to introduce myself. I'm sure, since I'm only down the street from Tampa, they'll be hearing a lot from me. What a great idea this organization is! Just last week when I joined, I ran an ad for an experienced harmonica player to do some tracks for me - BINGO - got a good prospect!
I look forward to this new relationship with JPF. Furthermore, I hope I am able to contribute/share info that I've picked up along the way - if it can help someone else in their pursuits...
Associations: American Federation of Musicians: (former member in good standing of Union Locals in) Toronto Canada, Austin Texas and Detroit Michigan. Joining Tampa Florida Local today! SOCAN - performing rights Canada GEMA - performing rights Europe ASCAP - will be member when catalogue returns back to me Jan. 2005.
See ya, Jake W.

Hi Bluezguy Jake, I'm on a business trip looking at the site, taking a break from meetings and see your post. Take a look at the Dec. 12 meeting, going to be a great one at Clancey's. See you there. I live about 30 minutes south of NPR and would like to share blues music with you, as I am a new bass enthusiast, I can learn from your experiance. Welcome to the Tampa Chapter of JPF. Richard
