Hello Folks, I just wanted to drop a line to let you know about the Will McLean Festival this weekend in Dade City. This is a fun tribal gathering of Florida Folkies from all around the state. The campground and festival grounds are one in the same so no matter where you go you will hear someone playing a guitar, banjo, fiddle etc... you get the idea. Among all the truly performers will be our own Jak Kelly. I think Jak will be performing twice, once saturday and again on sunday. I will be there with my tent, guitar and a bottle of burbon (it's just to warm the bones). If you are interested in coming on out either go to www.willmclean.com for info or give me a call and I'll tell ya what I know 941-496-8395 cell# 941-223-1916. I will be leaving between noon and 2pm on friday. James ------------------ James www.JRHawkins.com

Please give a report when you get back. Me and my allergies are staying home home this year. The pollen seems worse than usual! Donna ------------------ http://donnaklein.com

Another great festival! The weather was great! The music was great! I saw a lot of old friends and made a bunch of new ones. I did a bit of jamming. I learned a lot from the workshops and just from discussing each other's experiences. It is also a little depressing. When you see how many incredibly talented writers and performers there are out there and most all of them are struggling to get any reasonable sized audience for their stuff, it kind of makes me wonder if my efforts are futile. But hey, it's a challenge! Besides, I dropped out of doing any serious music in the mid 1980's and couldn't stay away. ------------------ Stone Marmot www.stonemarmot.com Stone Marmot on Soundclick

HOWDY, This year's Will McLean Festival had a feeling of a family reunion. There were people that I haven't seen in a long time. The music on the main stage late saturday night was unbelieveable. I have been able to watch the progress of many of the songwriters and performers that were there when I first came along, Jon Semmes, the Ashley Gang, Ken Skeens, Boomslang, Steve Blackwell, Mike Jergensen, but this year everybody was on the top of their game! Both friday and saturday night I was singing songs and playing guitar till 4am. I stopped by Jim Bikerstaff's camp along with Tom Shedden(sp?) big top, I even saw and heard a brief Myriad reunion at one song circle. I am still sleep deprived and moving rather slow. At the next JPF meeting I should have a small surprise! C-YA then James ------------------ James www.JRHawkins.com
