This is posted at the Lyric Feedback Forum but for those of you who don't usually go there, I wanted to share this.
The Meaning of War Lyrics by: Cindy LaRosa March 18, 2003.
This is dedicated with love, compassion and prayer to all the families, men, women and children of all nationality who's lives may be lost or torn apart by events that are about to occur in the Middle East.
She opened her eyes As the sun flickered through The boarded up window On that cool spring morn Mommy won't wake up And she's lying beneath the table With baby brother's body Wrapped tight in her arms
She wipes the tears From her pretty black eyes Afraid of the fire That falls from the sky And her little hands shake As she walks to the door She can't read But at three She knows the meaning of "war"
There'll be strange men in the city Like she's seen before Handing out food and blankets And medicine each day Her daddy's gone off To some place in the hills Now she's here all alone Cause momma's gone away
And she wipes the tears From her pretty black eyes Afraid of the fire That falls from the sky And she faces this day With a future unsure She can't read But at three She knows the meaning of "war"
When will this all end? Will daddy ever come home again? The strangers bring food and shelter and this thing they call "aid" But they can never bring back the family that they took away...
And she wipes the tears From her pretty black eyes Afraid of the fire that falls from the sky And her little hands shake Like never before She can't read But at three She knows the meaning of "war" She can't read But at three She knows the meaning of "war"

Wow, great lyrics for our time and by tonight it might be a reality... Do you have music to go along with it? If not, I have been working on a song called "The Cry of our Children" and your words might fit... Say cool, Mikey

I know my friend, how well I know. I've had to wipe away a few tears myself in the last few days.....many in fact when I wrote this.

Cindy, Very strong emotions in this song. I think you have accomplished a better understanding of what war means without politically taking sides. That is quite an accomplishment. My hats off to you. Dan
