What did you all think of the Drum manufacturer picks in the member's choice survey? http://www.jpfolks.com/MemberPages/index.html Brian

Good makes of course! Would have liked to seen Rogers in there, but I guess not that many new drummers have them, for they don't make them anymore. (Could be why huh?!!!) BUT a good vintage set, with a dynasonic snare and all the great revolutionary hardware, is great! But maybe not for today's studio engineers/producers, needing to have more control over the percussion. Rogers was really a stage set.
Now,,,,,Yamaha not being there surprises me. (Although I can uderstand, being not that many Jazz players are with JPF). They have one of the best fatcories in the world for making drums, and are very precise in each drum! Yamaha drums are known for their very tight, accurate sound and ease of keeping each drum in tune,,,(if tuned properly from the start), which tuning any drum is more complicated than tuning a piano!,,,if done right that is!).
The few drum store owners that I've been to all said the Yamaha is GREAT! But,,,,,I love my 1965 Rogers blue sparkle kit!
All good makes though on that list! Each have their sound it seems, but all very pro like.
John

I'll try some of my buddies again. Maybe I can "snare" some new posters (sorry, I couldn't help it). ------------------ Mike Dunbar Music

Funny - I saw drum picks and thought I've been missing something. Maybe it was because I just read the guitar pick string, and thought the drummers were starting to use picks too.

How did Ludwig get on the list?? They haven't made good drums since Ringo was playing them... Yamaha, my personal preference, should definatly be on the list. I play the HipGig... anyone else? -Mark LIA - http://www.getlostinamerica.com EKKO - http://www.mp3.com/ekkomusic
