Hi, I'd like to make members of JPF aware that their are great FREE on-line drumset lessons now available at the following site: http://www.drumsetworkouts.com/ The free lessons are in the form of text and notated musical examples which you can view on-line or download/print out. This is author/teacher/clinician Jon Belcher's site and contains information about his highly regarded method books titled: DRUMSET WORKOUTS BOOKS 1 & 2 (He writes for Modern Drummer Magazine & PAS). The second book is available as a download for $4.95!! This is a 75 page book and well worth checking out! Both books can be ordered in hard copy as well. Brian, Thanks for your response.These days I find myself thinking of the scene in the movie GoodWill Hunting with Matt Damon and Robin Williams. As Matt shows off his brilliant intellect and acquired knowledge, Robin matches the students intellectual pyrotechnics and then points out the difference between them. Over the years he has aquired a visceral connection with that same knowledge that you can't get from a book by "living". Reading about a broken heart is not the same as having your heart broken. Jon,
Very impressive site. Last year I inherited an old maple drum kit from the late Tom "Hit Man" Cerone, a terrific drummer from New York who played with Neil Diamond in the early years among many other stars. I've been toying with the idea of learning a little, rather than just keeping them at my studio for other drummers to use. I'm going to download your lessons to get started.
