Here is Lynn Julian's "Tip of the Month": "SYNDICATED RADIO PROGRAMS ... THINK NATIONALLY!" OK ... So it IS great for your ego to hear your song on the your local radio station. In return, you get validation from your friends and family. Perhaps an article in the local paper too. BUT ... when you are ready to move up to the next level, you want to "THINK NATIONALLY!" I'm talking about syndicated radio programs that reach MILLIONS of listeners, instead of thousands. It takes NO more effort to send a promo pack to a large radio station than a small one and the return is PRICELESS. Bands often report big increases in CD sales after they are picked up by these syndicators. So ... What are you waiting for? THINK NATIONALLY! Here are a few syndicated radio shows to get you started: echoes.org (goes to 150 stations), womenonair.com (98 stations, see info below), woodsongs (400 stations), joes grille (Blue Plate Special), Mojo Music Studio (50 stations, unclejoe@mojomusicstudio.com) Dr. Demento for novelty songs (100+ stations including internet broadcasts, DrDemento @ DrDemento.com). After you get a song broadcast on a syndicated show, I HIGHLY recommend you issue a PRESS RELEASE immediately to build a buzz! My song, "Ham for the Holidays!," was just on Dr. Demento on 11/21 and 11/28 and here is the Press Release I issued below. PLEASE REQUEST "HAM FOR THE HOLIDAYS" for a 3rd week on Dr. Demento. That would be record breaking great publicity! TO REQUEST A SONG ON DR. DEMENTO: http://www.clamhead.com/drdrequest.php STATIONS THAT BROADCAST DR. SUMMARY ... FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Augusta resident, Lynn Julian, was commissioned by the "Trouble With Turkey" coalition to compose the themesong for their latest campaign. Their spokesperson is Tommy, a ten year old turkey, who is trying to educate humans about alternatives to their typical holiday feast this season: HIM. The focal point of the awareness campaign is HAM: it’s juicier for roasting, turkey’s dry. They hope Julian's theme song, "Ham For The Holidays," will help folks remember this fact. Dr. Demento loved the tune so much he brought international attention to the song when he played it on his Thanksgiving show on 11/21 & will be reairing it on 11/28 too. This was a tremendous honor, as her indie song was played between big name artists Adam Sandler and Arlo Guthrie. Julian feels SO strongly about her conviction that she has made the theme song track #1 on her latest CD. Please give this song, and this international issue oppressing all turkeys, the attention that it deserves by listening to it and sharing it with friends and family this holiday season. It’s a catchy little number we just *know* you’re going to love. TO REQUEST A SONG ON DR. DEMENTO: http://www.clamhead.com/drdrequest.php STATIONS THAT BROADCAST DR. "Parents are notorious for telling you not to do something, but not telling you WHAT to do instead. So here are my thoughts. Don't bite the hand that feeds you, give it a manicure. Don't burn your bridges, go out and build more! And of course, Don't run with Scissors, use them to cut out your press clippings!" -Brian Austin Whitney
