No doubt, these are difficult times for independant artists and writers to reach out -
but far from impossible -
Quite to the contrary, there are record distributors, labels, radio people and potential fans out there who are receptive to hearing from us. The paradisemoon site has gone from a single artist to a few indies - and from zero traffic to about 7,000 legit visitors every month. One realistic way I have found to reach out is to write a short note asking if the person would be open to hearing about our artist releases and press info. This is so much more effective than just sending out something blindly via email. You are welcome to ask questions or make any comments - the fact is, we must reach out to the people who we are trying to network with. - yet that first contact is so crucial. Don't be discouraged if only a few are considerate enough to respond. They may have some filtering software as well - and not even see the first request to communicate - but asking first does in fact work and I think it is a polite way to open the door. Nothing worthwhile is easy.
