I was just notified that my song "I'm Different" received Honorable Mention Award in John Lennon's Songwriting Contest 2001. Only a small percentage of the thousands of entries are recognized. 12 categories, 10 winners in each. I entered in World Category. Award states that judges felt my song was among the best entered into contest, and I just missed being one of the 120 winners. I have a beautiful Award Certificate with John Lennon's trademark picture on it. To have my name and song on a certificate with John Lennon's name is an honor!

Congrats! I received an honorable mention in the American Songwriter's Magazine lyric contest. It's a great feeling, huh? ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/biggrin.gif) Vondelle

I and I, Congrats! We share a Lennon connection, so I know how you must feel. Now take that song, and see what it is that made it worth getting honorable mention, and keep going, to write even stronger songs. Make each second of your songs count. Think improvement, to build on this success. You may have a song that was better then the winner, who knows? But do try to be progressive,,,,,don't just let this be your only song that's ever recongnized. (I'm saying that to myself as well!)
Way to go!
John

That's great!
I wish I would have known about your song before I did a themed show on "diversity" . . . I would have included it in the line-up. I'd love to get a copy anyway for the next time I do a similar theme.
For those who may not know, when is the deadline for submitting for the next contest? Where can people find out more details about it?
Congratulations on your mention!

"Parents are notorious for telling you not to do something, but not telling you WHAT to do instead. So here are my thoughts. Don't bite the hand that feeds you, give it a manicure. Don't burn your bridges, go out and build more! And of course, Don't run with Scissors, use them to cut out your press clippings!" -Brian Austin Whitney
