“The Jukebox Keeps Crying “ A lyric looking for a composer. (C) 2002 by W.L. “Bill” Cooper Comments appreciated.
V-1 Lonely old figure, in a back corner booth. Searching the memories, back into his youth. Drowning his sorrows, in a river of tears. As long lonesome hours, blend into lost years. Chorus) The juke box keeps crying, tears falling like rain. Love, cheating and lying, in each songs refrain. Lonely heart’s sighing, in bittersweet pain. The juke box keeps crying down memory lane. V-2 His love was forever, it never grew old. But she found another to have and to hold. Now he's left to wonder, ‘bout love and the truth. Keeps feeding the juke box, from a back corner booth.
Chorus) The juke box keeps crying, tears falling like rain. Love, cheating and lying, in each songs refrain. Lonely heart’s sighing, in bittersweet pain. The juke box keeps crying down memory lane. (Bridge) Soft neon rainbows, sweet melodies. Lonesome lost lover’s, set all alone Sipping their beers, (hiding their tears)? while singing along. Song after love song,(heart's lost forever)? cry out endlessly.
Chorus) The juke box keeps crying, tears falling like rain. Love, cheating and lying, in each songs refrain. Lonely heart’s sighing, in bittersweet pain. The juke box keeps crying down memory lane.
Just added an Alt - Bridge hope you will comment. Thanks.

Hi Bill! Hope all is well! Noticed you absence! I like this! Well done! If old style music was still in you would have a pretty good one! I love it; the older stuff myself. I've been hearing of late the publisher only want upbeats! Bummer! I love down and depressed! ha! Ideas: The "refrain" reference in the chorus sounds as thought it was added just to rhyme? I'm afraid most of your everyday listeners would not know the difference between a refrain and a chorus. Not that it matters a hell of a lot! Lol! I can't see what it adds to the song though? Also, I wish the bridge was stronger. It seems to repeat what we have already been told? Just some thoughts my friend. And, I've been accused of thinking way too much! Lol! ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) Ron

Nice lyric...don't know if you'v melodized it or not...but seemed the meter was off some...but still thought this pretty good. They keep saying they're looking only for "upbeat" stuff...I'm wondering if somebody has misinterpreted the publishers calling for "uptempo" stuff for "upbeat" stuff...whale of a difference. Seems like they still are cranking out the "crying" songs though some are trying to get the beat faster, that's what I'm noticing. Best wishes with this song. www.mp3.com/sharon_irene_wells

Hi Ron, Thanks for the read. I’ve been working extra long hours lately. I am in Air Cond. contracting and the next few months will be long hours and 7 day weeks, so my post will be few.
This is a “keep it simple” (very simple), cry in your beer song. Maybe I can do something with the bridge but I’m not after a lot of new information. Just an image of an old guy in a back corner booth feeding the jukebox day after day, wasting his life away in morning of lost love.
Always be a market for this type of song. This one may not be good enough to make it but sad songs will always sell. ( the good ones) Don’t see “Refrain” as a problem, to be honest all the words in the chorus were chosen because of rhyme. Regards Bill

WoW!!! Bill, Such a vividly clear picture here. Practically sang itself to me. Just a couple of bumps. The rhythm in the bridge seemed to fight with the words. there are musical ways around it, but at fast read, "sad song" didn't quite match up with "went wrong". The other thing.... I kinda wanted to see in verse two:
But she found HER another
Just kinda felt right to me.

Hi Sharon, Thanks for the read and comments. “Meter” what's that? ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) Always have a head tune as I write. It sings OK but may need a few changes if ever put to music? I don’t see this as “upbeat” or “uptempo”, so I may not be a demand for it, but a lot of people enjoy this type of song from time to time. Regards Bill

Hey, Bill, good to see you back again! Is this a rewrite? Seems like I remember this one from before -- about a guy sitting in a back corner booth lamenting love lost. Could have been a different song - sometimes when I read thru the songs, I get a visual and this kinda seemed like deja vu! Anyway, I stumbled a little with the meter of the bridge also, but don't have a fix right now. Have to get back with you when I've got the time to look at it. Liked the story. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) ------------------ Mary Lou [This message has been edited by carrgirl1115 (edited 05-08-2002).]

Very nice. Sometimes the country jukebox songs sound a lot alike, but this one stands apart. It reads really smoothly, so I bet the music would be an easy fit. One line nitpick: in v.2 I'd change line 5 to say "Now he's left to wonder". The bridge is the weakest part to me. It doesn't flow back into the chorus very well, and it has an odd approach. The perspective is confusing. Anyhow, besides a little reworking of the bridge, I think you're about done with this one. Good work.

Hi Cory, Thanks for the read and comments. Made the change you suggested.
Agree the bridge could be stronger.
No ideas now but I will keep looking.
