I think we need to all get together and support the local music scene. What if we pick a gig to go to every month and everybody shows up to that gig to support our Just Plain Folks artists?

Hey Tammy, Glad to hear from you! I'll do what I can to support the chapter. I did an open mike at 106 west that went real well. Let me know what is happening! Maybe we should also consider the Athens area. James

As you know James, I have been trying to get this chapter going for years. I have had numerous meetings, and even opted for online meetings. We need to get the word out about JPFolks.

I'm new here. What styles are you talking. All music styles or acoustic singer/songwriter type stuff.
I play bass in a blues band and it would be nice to network with like minded musicians.

I am a singer/guitarist. I like country, blues, gospel and bluegrass and basically want to be with other musicians and jam, network or any other way I can be involved in music. Tammy and Amber have been trying for a long time to get regular meetings going, but noone has ever responded. Let's get together and do it !!! If Tampa can have an active chapter, Why can't we??? James

That's right James. Atlanta's chapter should be very strong. Amber's style of music is rock but i think we should embrace all forms of music. Why not go a rock show one month, a country show the next and then to a blues show. What better way to learn to appreciate music by going to see our fellow JPFolks members play.

Hi everyone.. Yeah, it is strange to me that the music folks around the Atlanta area don't seem to be very supportive of each other. So Okay!! I'm inviting all of you out on December 8, Friday night, at 9:30 p.m. at the new venue, The Saloon, in Sandy Springs. I will be playing in the Lyndsey Suggs' Band (a new young female artist out of Alabama)... and will also set in with the George Britt Band...after Lyndsey's set... Lyndsey does mostly Country-Pop... but with her covers it's everything from 70s rock to Sheryl Crow. George Britt is more traditional country. If you get to come, introduce yourself! I've heard a lot about Amber Brooke but have never heard her/you.. let me know where you are playing sometimes! Here's to keeping LIVE music alive!!! ~~shelia ------------------ http://www.sheliaquattlebaum.com"You need a car with good tires on it and the right place to eat barbeque."

Hey Sheila,
This is Jeannine, Jessica Urick's mom.
We haven't logged into this board in a while and I just thought I would stop by for a while.
We have tried to get "stuff" going here too, posted offers of assistance, and no one responded. We'll try again!
We will try to come see you on December 8th barring any gig conflicts. We would really like to!
We support other artists as much as possible. As a matter of fact, Jessica has seen Amber many times.
The little "fundraiser/benefit" that Libby from JPF set up earlier this year was a lot of fun. It was great to meet some of the other JPFrs from the ATL.
We are game if there's no gig...OR let's set up our own JPF showcase!
Take care.

Blackberry Smoke is performing on April 27th at the Peachtree Tavern. They are going to be HUGE. Not only that, it's probably the most fun live show I've been to in forever. They are country...but mostly southern rock that just gets you going.
