Hi Folks, Even though this is only a month away, we're just getting started planning the dates for the 5th annual Nashville visit. We are working to launch active chapters in Birmingham, Atlanta and making our first visits to the states of North and South Carolina. I have Greenville, SC and Asheville, NC listed, but I am open to other cities near there if we can get a group of members together for a showcase/networking meeting. I've gotten a nice reponse from Lexington, so we'll be doing a show there on either Sunday or Tuesday (before or after the Woodsongs Old Time Radio Show on Monday, depending on how the Carolina's work out).
I expect to have 1 or 2 open member shows in Nashville in addition to our yearly Monday Night Bluebird Cafe stop. I expect the open shows to take place on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday I will be attending Member Muriel Anderson's yearly extravaganze "Muriel Andersons ALL Star Guitar Night" which is always a blast. On Saturday, we were working on the featured show at the Bluebird, but it appears that might have fallen through. Sunday night is aother potential night for a member showcase. Monday night we will attend the Bluebird Cafe Open Mic, so if you are a member, come out nad put your name in the hat and we'll be taping/taking pictures like we do every year. The Host for that show is JPF Mentor Barbara Cloyd! Then we'll be off for Alabama and other regions.
If you can help me set up a show in Birmingham, Atlanta, Greenville SC and Asheville NC as well as Lexington, please email me at jpfolks@aol.com and place your city in the title. I am also open to stopping in Louisville on the way down if some folks express interest.
As soon as we start to add events, we'll also start taking sign ups to perform. Here's the dates:
2003 Southeast Roadtrip Dates:
July 14: Louisville, KY (Show/Meeting Date) July 15: Nashville, TN (Show/Meeting Date) July 16: Nashville, TN (Show/Meeting Date) July 17: Nashville, TN (Show/Meeting Date) July 18: NAMM Show Nashville (Muriel Anderson's All Star Guitar Night) July 19: NAMM Bluebird/Show Nashville (Pending) July 20: NAMM Show Nashville (Show/Meeting Date) July 21: Nashville, TN (Bluebird Cafe Open Mic) July 22: Birmingham, AL (Show/Meeting Date) July 23: Birmingham, AL (Travel) July 24: Atlanta, GA (Show/Meeting Date) July 25: Atlanta, GA (Show/Meeting Date) July 26: Greenville, SC (Show/Meeting Date) July 27: Asheville, NC (Show/Meeting Date) July 28: Lexington, KY (Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour) July 29: Lexington, KY (Show/Meeting Date).
See you next month!

Al,
So far Atlanta is pretty quiet... all the cities are quiet except Lexington, including Nashville.. not sure what to make of it.. this is our 5th year of doing this and usually by now there are 100 or more names signed up.. I don't have more than 4 in any city. Weird.

Hey there!
You can SO count me in!! I'm there! Giles will be willing to perform, and I'll see who I can rustle up from the open mics and songwriter's meetings... I've got a list of folks to invite.
What will go on at these meetings/shows?

Amber,
Come to both Atlanta NSAI meetings and give a short presentation about JPF and what you are trying to accomplish. We have two meetings: one in Gwinnett and one in Cobb. I feel very certain that the coordinators would happy to give you the floor for a few minutes.
I would make the same suggestion for the GMIA meetings, although I am not a member and I cannot vouch for the organization except to say that they are very active and there are a lot of musical people in the Atlanta area that go to their meetings.
Brian, you might want to get an email message to the coordinators of both organizations regarding your tour.

Hey ATL, This is Montez Simmons over in Columbia, South Carolina. Brian is scheduled to come to Greenville (or here, if we can change it) on Saturday July 26, and we plan to have our first meeting and possibly a small show IF we get a good response. I've had a number of people interested, but not a large group to perform. My chapter is based in Columbia, so it's a bit farther than Greenville but we can pull it off! If anyone from ATL or nearby GA wants to come, you are all welcome to do so. I will have a venue set this week, one way or the other. Let us know!

Note to any chapter coordinators getting started:
Don't do a meeting unless you have confirmed attendees. If they haven't confirmed to you, folks probably won't show up. A first meeting usually has 3-8 members on average, so don't let that discourage you.

Columbia SC has 20+ (and growing) confirmed to attend our first meeting on 26 July,5:30pm @ the New Brookland Tavern in downtown Columbia. SC got dropped from the roadtrip agenda but we are still having our meeting and live bands will be performing at the tavern as part of their regular lineup. The invite still stands for those who wish to join us. Montez
P.S. If we ever hear a time and place for the ATL showcase, we might show up over there.

We have quite a few performers set to perform on Thursday night but our database of Atlanta members is small. Please e-mail me if you have not been getting e-mails regarding the Atlanta Chapter. YOu need to be in our database and spread the joyous word.

Please post the relevant information in this forum. Where and when is the event? What is the agenda? We have an NSAI meeting tonight (20 or so enthusiastic songwriters, and I could make an announcement on your behalf if you will provide me with details.
Thanks...
