OPEN MIKES IN NEW ORLEANS (Area code is 504. These are regular, ongoing open mikes, but check with the venue first, in case of rescheduling) Neutral Ground Coffeehouse 5110 Danneel St. (near St. Charles & Jefferson Ave.) 891-3381 Open Mic hosted by Mark Bennett, Sundays 7pm • very relaxed listening room with decent PA/monitors and live music 7 nights a week. Carrollton Station 8140 Willow (off Carrollton Ave.) 865-9190 Open Mic, Mondays 9:30 pm • smallish, smoky bar with great stage and PA system. Checkpoint Charlie's 501 Esplanade Open Mic Blues Jam, Sundays 10 pm and Acoustic Open Mic hosted by Jim Smith, Tuesdays 10 pm • just on the edge of the French Quarter, combines a laundromat with a dark bar & grill; feel free to kick up some noise here. ------------------ Lee Quick New Orleans chapter http://leequick.com
