If you weren't there, you missed a pretty good show, despite the fact that Bumbershoot events drew away a good portion of the performers. Hey, whatever, I got to perform twice! Looking forward to the next one. Did you plan to attend, then missed/skipped it? Why? Just curious -- I thought there'd be a bigger turnout for the first-ever JPF event in Seattle.

Hi dee ho Scott, Yup. I planned to attend but it didn't work out. And here's my excuse. From my house, it's 4 hrs. to downtown Seattle and 4hrs. home. Longer if I don't catch a ferry. So, I figured that my wife, my son and I could spend the weekend with my brother-in-law's family (in Edmonds). Then I could just find my way to Capitol Hill. NOT It turned out that they were coming here (long story). So, not only did I not have a place to stay but I had to be here for them. I'm glad yall had a good time. Maybe you could give us no-shows a short synopsis of the going-ons? Regretably absent, Bill

I was surprised there weren't more people, considering Seattle has a reputation for being a music town. But I got to place twice also and had a good time! It was fun showcasing in a different city!!

Bill, I don't think I would have driven 4 hours myself! That's a haul. I just moved to Seattle two weeks ago, so this was my first performance in the area. (I prefer open mics to regular shows; you meet a lot more musicians). I wrote a small summary here: http://www.scottandrew.com/main/2003_09#a000807 Apparently there were 20+ performers signed up, but only half showed. BAW said he'd never seen a %50 attrition like that, but given the fact that the big Bumbershoot festival was going on at the time, and that it was the first JPF event in the Pacific NW, I don't think it fared too poorly at all. I almost skipped myself to go see Kathleen Edwards play at Bumbershoot -- I'm glad I didn't. ------------------ Scott Andrew and the Walkingbirds DIY acoustic pop and weirdo country thing Hear it: http://www.scottandrew.com/main/music Buy it: http://www.scottandrew.com/main/records

Thank you Scott, For the summary of THE event. For the story about moving. For being gentle about me not showing up. And now: alcohol. Bill p.s. What the hey is wi-fi? quote "the Swansea Cafe has free wi-fi."

Hey Scott,
Sometimes we just go get locked into the right set of folks to make a Roadtrip show work in a city on the first visit. I am sure that the next time through Seattle, it will dramatically grown. I am still not sure what caused the large number of no shows there, but when you do as many shows in as many cities as we do, now and then it just isn't as successful as others.
We enjoyed all the folks we met there and felt you were one of the strongest artists we met on the road this summer and looking forward to having you more involved going forward.

I agree with you, Brian. We all thought Scott was very good also. I just checked out his website and it wasn't a fluke. You have a very consistent sound that works great for you Scott. I liked every song!! Best of luck to you. Email me if you're ever coming to Chicago, and we'll show you a good time!!

Yeah, Scott's definitely among the top 10 artists we've found on the road this year!
