Hi everyone,

I wanted to let you all know that the next season of Keeping Company... with Donna Klein starts back up on October 5th at 2 pm at the Catherine A. Hickman Theater, 5501 27th Ave. S., Gulfport, Florida (Tampa Bay area). This is an interactive-round robin filled with stories, songs, and interaction with the audience.

I will have tickets available for purchase at Tampa chapter JPF meeting on September 28th. Come on out and support your brothers and sisters in music!

There were a lot of submissions this year, and coordinating availability, participation from the different groups with which I'm involved, and diversity of sound was challenging but a lot of fun. Three JPF members (two who are local), will be a part of the upcoming season!

The October 5th concert will feature Mike Jurgensen, Karlos, and Bonnie Whitehurst.

New Port Richey resident Mike Jurgensen began performing in public in 1992. Mike was a finalist in the 1994, 1996, and 2002 South Florida Folk Festival song-writing competition. He also won the 1998 Will McLean Festival “Best Florida Song.” In addition, two of Mike’s songs are featured in the Edward R. Murrow Award-winning radio documentary “Apalachicola Doin’ Time,” produced by WUFT in Gainesville, and PBS is considering using one of his songs in an upcoming documentary about Tarpon Springs. Karlos has spent the last few years developing his own unique style of music that's lightly influenced by the sounds of electronic alternative rock then infused with the styling of Brit Rock and an added flair of late 60s rock n' roll. Determined to make a name for himself in today's rapidly evolving musical landscape, Karlos has hosted, produced and played in concert in the Music Center at St. Petersburg Junior College; played several roles in a theatrical play by famous Spanish playwright Frederico Garcia Lorca; appeared on WMNF 88.5 FM Community Radio; and appeared on Speak Up Tampa Bay. Bonnie Whitehurst is known throughout Florida and the southeast as a composer, performer and recording artist. Her 8th CD will be released this autumn (2003), from a live recording at the Tarpon Cultural Center. She is best known for her work as a liturgical musician for many denominations, her performances upon exotic instruments and her eclectic original compositions and concert style.
