This song is loosely based on my mother's first marriage at the age of about 13 or 14. After she was divorced she married my dad and had six children. http://www.soundclick.com/pro/view/02/default.cfm?bandID=326683&content=song&songID=3870826 Stone Mountain (c) April 2006, Rebecca Dale Peaden (BMI)/Keith Marchetti (BMI) Didn't take her long... to figure out He married and brought her to the woods To care for his sick mom so he could run about And he only came home... Once in awhile Each time he left who would've guessed She was carrying his child Chorus: Three times he beat her Each time she lost her babies Now she kneels at the foot of the cross Pining for her loss Up on Stone Mountain It's been a long time... But she still cries When she remembers her little ones She softly hums a song about lost lives And her last wish..... She's a countin' On lying next to those old graves With her babies up on Stone Mountain Chorus: 2X Three times he beat her Each time she lost her babies She still kneels at the foot of the cross Pining for her loss On Stone Mountain ------------------ Rebecca ------------------------ Relating to the rewriting of lyrics --"Son, it ain't done until its cut--and then it ain't DONE 'til its a hit" ------------------

What a sad story - made all the much sadder by the fact that it relates a much commoner tale than we would like to believe. Love your vocals and harmonies. Nice rhythm and slide guitar work as well. ------------------ Clint http://www.soundclick.com/clintanglin

Rebecca--Very mountain country song. The subject is a tough one to tackle in a song. Not to say lyrically it doesn't tell you the story. It does. The harmony very good. The guitar playing very good. The overall performance of the song is good. I'm not going to tell you to pitch it to Rascal Flatts. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) You and Keith can really go all over the map. I say this as a good thing. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) Have a good day. T-Bob

Hi Clint - Thanks. We wrote and recorded this just yesterday! I love it when they come together like that! Terribob - Yea, I don't think Rascal Flatts could do this the way we did ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) They need to stick with what they do best! ------------------ Rebecca ------------------------ Relating to the rewriting of lyrics --"Son, it ain't done until its cut--and then it ain't DONE 'til its a hit" ------------------

Hey Rebecca, Reminds me of some tunes I heard a few years ago at the Julian (CA) Fiddle & Banjo festival... very authentic, great job! Needs a little fiddle to spike it up, but that'd just be ice'n on the cake. The six children your mother had (on her 2nd round) helped even the score a bit! If she could hear this, I'm sure she'd be proud of you! ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) Michael ------------------ The OUTLOOK may often appear bleak, but the UPLOOK is always bright! Hi Michael, Fiddle would be nice! Especially in the musical break. I don't know anyway who plays fiddle. Do you? (smile). My mother is 76 and she's heard it! She liked it and even gave me another story to base a new bluegrass song on. I'm going to be writing that soon. Thanks! ------------------ Rebecca ------------------------ Relating to the rewriting of lyrics --"Son, it ain't done until its cut--and then it ain't DONE 'til its a hit" ------------------

Rebecca, You can hear me play a bit of fiddle on my latest MP3 song post "My Fortress (Shelter)" song. Please check it out and let me know what you think! Thanks! ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) Michael ------------------ The OUTLOOK may often appear bleak, but the UPLOOK is always bright! I did take a listen Michael and it's absolutely beautiful. Do you think you could add some bluegrass type violin to our song? ------------------ Rebecca ------------------------ Relating to the rewriting of lyrics --"Son, it ain't done until its cut--and then it ain't DONE 'til its a hit" ------------------

Bump! Thanks & Great idea! I'd love to hear from at least one other violin, viola or fiddle player around these parts! I think Joro works with one, so maybe look him up and send him an email! I don't know that fiddle player's name, but I've heard him on some recordings and he seems to be very versatile. Should work out fine. Can't wait to hear it! Now would I say all that if I waz selfish or "jealous"?! We're all in this together! ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) Michael ------------------ The OUTLOOK may often appear bleak, but the UPLOOK is always bright! Hi Becca
This one is a far turn from the last one I heard.. Can't comment on the lyric as it has personnal attachments. But everything was well done and sincere.. Not mush to say as this one is far to Hill Billy to me to relate with..
The last one is still my favorite.. good job here though to.
Peace Sub

Honest, raw tune. Good lyrics and Kip nails the tune. Good bluegrassy Applacian music. One of my favorites by you Rebecca. You and Kip are really forming a good collab team.
