Boom Baby
Jon Paul Copyright Dec 26, 2005

12 bar blues feel

V1
Getting thick around the middle, a little thin on top
I hear my bones a creaking
Whens it gonna stop
My bowels are barely workin, but once or twice a week
And when I get up in the night time
Goddamn I gotta pee
Iím from the boom, baby boom

Chorus
Iím a just a child from the 60ís
Never thought Iíd see the day
When 50 was the number, on my birthday cake

V2
I think I need a Porsche, or a trophy wife
Its time to change my laid back style, and end my hippie life
IĎll buy a little beach house, stock up on good champagne
Wash the little blue pill down, be your stallion once again
Iím from the boom, baby boom

Chorus
Iím a just a child from the 60ís
Never thought Iíd see the day
When 50 was the number, on my birthday cake

V3
So I guess Iím getting older
Ainít nothing I can do
But sit, and rock and reminisce
Be old and grey with you
They said Iíd never find a way
To make me young again
Sex and drugs and rock and roll, guess it had to end
No more boom, baby boom
Iím from the boom, baby boom
Damn that boom, baby boom

Fade to end

Hi,

I though it was funny and well crafted, clever!
Didn't think it needed those few lines of the first verse though, the bowels and the peeing.. not that is was distasteful but I thought all the verses were stronger as far as the title and concept go.
I dont think of those things from that era or age..

The rest was great! End my hippie life!
sex drugs Rock &roll! Look forward to hearing more!

Peace

Jon Paul, I really liked this one. I think you may be elected to the AARP Hall of Fame. Me being a "Baby Boomer" I think I'm qualified to really judge this one.

It's a winner. Really good lyrics. Love the ending. Vocally/musically real good. Great job.

Hope we hear more from you. Welcome to the boards.terribob

Sub,

Thanks for the critique! With regard to your points about the first verse, us folks in the boomer generation are now at the age where we are bombarded with ads for drugs and otc remedies, to treat the subjects of verse 1.

If you were born after 1970, consider this a harbinger of things to come.

I really do appreciate the feedback.

Terribob,

Thanks for the feedback! I guess the alternative to being depressed about my age, is to make fun of how many of us deal with it.

Gracias,

Jonathan

Hey Jonathan:

Nice playin'

And I thought the lyric was hysterical - specially liked the spoken part at the end.

I'm on the tail end of the boom, and while I haven't hit some of the things you mention yet - I can definitely feel them coming.

I grew a beard because I was tired of being carded for beer at age 38. Now, only 8 years later, it's mostly gray and I'm thinking of shaving it off! Jeez!

Your song really hit home - as I expect it will for many a boomer. And there's a ton of them (us, dangit)....

Hope to hear more - nice work.

Scott

Scott,

Thanks for having a listen, and taking time to reply. Yeah, there are a ton of us out here. I hope that we can all ease into geezerhood gently, as oppposed to being thrown in kicking and screaming!

Regards,

Jonathan

Hi Jon

How come you know so much about me???? This is really a cracking song - but are you sure you haven't based it on me??? Cheers Dave

Dave,

Due to national security provisions, I can neither confirm, nor deny whether this song is actually "about you".

It is entirely possible that some aspects of the "song" may be revealed during congressional hearings, but I cannot go into deteail without the advise of the attorney general.

A national security letter may be forthcoming, but it not, please listen at high volume and enjoy.

I will be writing follow up songs from a secure location.

Regards,

Noiseboy
