We've thought of starting a chapter up there and have had a couple volunteers in the past but they felt there were no artists up there to get something going with (which is obviously wrong, there's probably very few places in North America where you can't find 10+ artists withing 30 minutes of each other).
We're always open to folks wanting to start something.

Several of my students who are also songwriters banded together with me this spring and established the 'Victoria Songwriter's Circle' -- which sounds really posh, but we just started getting together once a month to share our work. This fall we're inviting other local songwriters to join us. We hope to get to the point where we will be performing our work at local cafes, and setting up workshops with pro songwriters. We have Valdy on board right now & will be organizing that soon. If anyone in the area is interested, send me an email or post here - jamesbaydiva@hotmail.com There's also apparently a well-established songwriting circle up in Naniamo, one of our members has been in touch with them as well. I've attended several songposiums put on here by the Songwriter's Association of Canada, there's always been a big crowd. So I think there is interest, part of it is getting the word out. I came across JPF because I asked on another songwriting board about a 'record company' that had approached me... I was directed to a thread on JPF which gave me the info I needed to know it was a scam. Also, I attended a songwriting workshop with John Braheny this past spring and he said JPF is a great resource. Brian, how does one go about starting a chapter?
