Hi gang:
I know I've been missing in action for most of the fall and winter thus far. 2003 is not going to be remembered as a banner year for me in most respects, but I am very pleased to say that I met most of my musical goals for the year.

My primary focus in 2003 was networking and getting feedback about my material. Until I joined this board and started attending NSAI and Just Plain Folks meetings in Toronto, I had absolutely no idea if I was any good at what I was doing. I didn't know if my peers were hitting the same walls creatively and professionally that I was. I now know that we are all in this together, and that my songs are getting better by the day. (I wish the days were geting better by the song...)

I also did my first co-write (Thanks Claire Jeanne. I'm very proud of what we accomplished), and began sending my demos out to publishers for the first time. No bites yet, but I've gotten some very positive feedback.

For 2004, I have three major goals. One is to finally get one of my songs picked up by a publisher and hopefully cut by an artist. Two is to master the tools at my disposal, so I can do much better demos than I have been able to do up to this point. The third goal is to return to posting on these forums on a much more regular basis, and critique a lot more. I've been dismally absent from the critique boards of late, and I sincerely apologize.

Of course, I have writing goals as well, but they are the same from year to year. They are as follows:

Ideally I would like to be able to write a song a week, either on my own or in a cowrite situation. Realisitcally, that isn't likely, but if I aim for the moon, I might at least hit low earth orbit...

Thanks to all of your for your encouragement, support, and criticism. It has made me a better writer, and helped me keep a positive attitude through a very rough year personally.

2004 will be a VERY good year. I say bring it on!

Well, that's great Terry. You're keeping your chin up. The song a week is a great idea. I was doing that my self. Now, I'm bogged down in trying to write a Sonata for piano. Move over Beethoven. I decided it was time to get my notation software under control. Hope to see you soon.
