Greetings!
I read that JPF's will be stopping in Portland Maine as part of our NE Roadtrip 2004. I would like to assist in anyway that I possibly can. I'm also a member of the Maine Songwriter's Association. Please remember me when you are in search of people to help set up this event.
I do not perform and have varied experience with coordinating but never in the music field but still wish to assist if you find I am needed!
Thanks and looking forward to hearing more about coming to Maine!
Linda

Hi there Linda, I too just notice that JP will be hitting portland again this year. I had the pleasure of enjoying that experience a few years ago as a performer. And it definately was a pleasure. I noticed you mentioned the Maine Songwriter's Association..i was wondering if you might be able to send me in a direction of where I could get more information on that organization?? I also wanted to add that I would be interested in perhaps helping out during that event.

Hi Guys,
We'll definitely be coming to Maine. We might even do a second show/event/gathering beyond just Portland because frankly. you guys up there have shown more early interest than any one else so far (other than perhaps Philly). I had planned to be there in late may/early june, but the awards are just creeping along and I have to finish the nominations before I can leave for the road. I am not thinking it might be July/August. But it WILL happen this summer!

Hey Brina, Sorry I hadn't responded sooner. I actually forgot that I posted. There's a website for the Maine Songwriters Association. Shanna is the director and is coordinating the event if you contact her via email then I'm sure she can steer you in the right direction.
I would like to have a part in it as well but as I mentioned I do not perform...I'm a lyricist only. Best Wishes!

Brian- Thanks for responding to my post! I'm still in the dark however of what actually takes place at the roadtrips and how I can be involved? I am not a performer but am a lyricist....maybe I can be the greeter or something? ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif)

Linda,
The roadtrips are friendly networking gatherings that include music performances by anyone who wants to perform a song (or 2 if there is time). When we have extra days, we sometimes also do a separate meeting where we have speakers or sometimes just me to answer questions about just about anything you want to know about (I've learned a lot about a lot of things in the last 6 years directly from the people who make things happen). Sometimes I'll do a 1 hour chat before a showcase. We also need help with various stuff during a Roadtrip show (someone to check people off, someone to help sell T-shirts and Hats, someone to help with the cameras, someone to help artists on and off stage etc..). And anyone is welcome at our events no matter what their level of experience is. We've had #1 artists and #1 writers perform with complete beginners at shows in the past. We're all in this together!
Brian
PS: Since the Roadtrip will take place AFTER the nominations are announced, if we have any local nominees, we'll try to give them an extra song at the show as one of the perks for earning a nomination this year.

Thanks for your continued response Brian! I have been told to communicate with the Maine Songwriter's Association, whom I understand is coordinating the Roadtrip here in Maine? Is that accurate or should I communicate with you or another person from JPF to be involved with the Maine Roadtrip? Again, thank you...all information that I receive will be helpful to others as well! Linda

We haven't finalized anything as of yet for Maine. The MSA said they'd like to be involved but I wasn't aware they were fielding JPF questions because even I don't know when we'll be there yet. Once the nominations are announced for the awards next month, the #1 priority is the Roadtrip, setting all the dates and scheduling the events. It looks like we'll be visiting Maine in September at this point.

Greetings once again Brian! I figure I could email you with this but also figured that you get numerous emails and I'd get sort of lost in the shuffle since you're probably not familiar with my email address.
There have been some changes with the Maine Songwriter's Association. Our former President has moved on to Nashville and a new election of the board will be announced this Thursday evening, 9/23/04. We are still very interested in meeting you and being part of one of JPF's Roadtrips.
Is it best at this time to communicate via email? And even to perhaps plan it for 2005? September is almost passed and we're not ready obviously. Thanks, Linda

Linda,
That's not a problem. We had a serious event happen that kept me from going on the road in early September. Rather than try to throw a tour together at the last second, I decided to focus on finishing up the awards and to plan to visit when it's warm enough in 2005. Keep me posted.
