Hello friends, My childrens's CD is finished. Thanks to the Just Plain Folks Forum for helping me figure out how to obtain one of my mechanical licences! "A Family Songbook" is a collection of traditional songs, covers, and original music for the whole family. Included is a new version of my tune "Big Blue Dog", which was nominated in the blues category of last year's Just Plain Folks music awards. Check-out www.afamilysongbook.com for more information. And (of course!) You can purchase your own copy online at CDBABY http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/cheesman2. As a side note: My wife and I are leaving Chicago in August. We will be traveling across the West for five months before we settle on a new home closer to the wild places we love. This isn't going to be a musical tour by any means, but I am looking forward to playing a few kids/family shows, coffeehouses, and open mics. I would welcome any and all help booking a few gigs. Tentative schedule: August - Montana (Glacier & Yellowstone & Missoula) and Idaho. Maybe British Columbia. September - Washington & Oregon. Maybe Vancouver. October - Oregon & California Novemeber - The Southwest December - Florida, New York State, and back to Chicago for the holidays. Thanks to all, Chuck Cheesman www.chuckcheesman.net www.afamilysongbook.com

Hi, Chuck! Congratulations on your CD and upcoming trip-I am working on my own CD, and I know how much work it takes to put it all together! If you are going to be in Los Angeles, there's a great place for concerts - MccCabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Monica. It's one of the most incredibly friendly venues I have ever seen - and they host lots of children's concerts as well as various big names in the Contemporary Folk/Blues/Celtic/Traditional Folk genres. I highly recommend it! Let me know if you are interested - I know some of the people who work there, and would be happy to help. Another "Songewriter-friendly" recommendations for Los Angeles: Kulaks Woodshed Genghis Cohen Highland Grounds Hallenbeck's Good Luck! ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/biggrin.gif) Emily [This message has been edited by Emily Sanders (edited 06-24-2003).]

Thanks Emily,
Thanks for the tip! That's very kind of you. I checked McCabe's website. It looks like a great place. When we get our trip planning together I'll be in touch. We aren't expecting to spend too much time in LA, but near there we have family we'll be staying with for a few days.
When can we expect your CD?
Chuck Cheesman

Hi, Chuck, My CD wil be out - hopefully - by Jan. 2004. I am in the process of setting up a web site and publishing company... More about the L.A. music scene: Check out this web site: folkworks.org You'll find all sorts of interesting information about the open mike nights and opportunites for performing your music when you're in L.A. Keep in touch and let me know if I can be of any help on your BIG concert tour!!! ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/biggrin.gif) Emily
