My wife and I are taking an abbreviated vacation this year, so we decided to do 2 days in Memphis {June16th and 17th} and Nashville {June 18th and 19th} Our itinerary for Memphis is unsettled, but I'm sure we'll hit all the obvious places{Beale St, Graceland, Sun Studio, The Rock n Soul museum, ect.} In Nashville however, I'll be performing at the Bluebird Cafe open mic Monday June 19th {Thanx again Barbara Cloyd!} It would be really great if I could meet some of our members while I'm there. I'm easy to spot in a crowd {Look for a guy about 6'3, 290lbs wearing a "Crocodile Dundee"style black leather hat,and a JPF T-shirt {Yes, I'll be "representin'"at the Bluebird! If any of our Nashville members are free that night, stop by and say hello, I'd love to meet you!

6'3" 290lbs?
I'd rate that a category 4.

Hey Bob, So far I can make it. Only money would keep me away (I'm a commercial old fart.) I'll be the guy who looks like Brad Pitt wearing the Armani suit with the alligator boots and the 100x beaver hat. Mike ------------------ You have to practice improvisation. -Art Tatum Mike Dunbar Music
You've got to know your limitations. I don't know what your limitations are. I found out what mine were when I was twelve. I found out that there weren't too many limitations, if I did it my way. -Johnny Cash It's only music. -niteshift Mike Dunbar Music

Hey Mike, If you're short on cash, You can drink on me, I figure it's the least I can do, given all the sound advice, and laughs you've given me! Shelia, I've been to BOTH cities several times,so I know most of the great places to eat {partly why I weigh 290!} I've never been to Graceland though, I'm looking forward to it.

Hey Bob, I just saw your post (been busy finishing up my country album)! I had plans on being back in Nashville this week, but am still finishing up some new songs I'm taking back down there. Actually, from the way it looks right now, that may be the time I'll be there. If I can, I will schedule my time to see you at the BC! Way to go!! Orlando Luckey www.myspace.com/orlandoluckey

O', That would be AWESOME if we could cross paths down there! Liz, and Joanne, Thanx! My better half will be with me, so I'll behave {for the MOST part}. I got all my debaucherizing out of my system on my previous visits.{Unless I can convince the wife to debaucherize too...hmmm} We're staying at the Best Western Music Row {home of the Hall of Fame Lounge} I can't wait!

When I visted Sun Studio for the first time it gave me chills! Who'd have thought that rock n roll was concieved, and all that greatness{Elvis, Cash, Jerry Lee, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison , Charlie Rich, BB King, Howlin' Wolf, pre-wife beatin' Ike Turner ect} eminated from some little converted radiator shop. Speaking of chills, going to the Lorrain Motel where MLK met his fate will do that too! Come to think of it, there are so many ghosts, and so much magic in both of those towns it's scary! Can't wait!

Just bumping this one up... Once again, I would LOVE to meet some of our members in these two great cities. We'll be in Memphis Thursday thru Saturday{15th-17th}and Nashville Sunday and Monday{18th and 19th} Our tentative itinerary: Thursday we'll be at BBKings seeing Ruby Wilson{a GREAT R&B singer!} Friday we'll be watching JPF'er, and whoop-ass blues belter Barbara Blue at Silky O'Sullivans, and Saturday we'll be at Blues City Cafe watching my namesake Richard Cushing's jam-band Freeworld. Sunday night in Nashville is still up in the air, but Monday I'll be playing the open mic at The Bluebird @ 6pm. Later we'll probably wind up at The Tin Roof across from our hotel. Once again, I'll be the large guy with the Croc-Dundee hat {complete w/ croc teeth!} I'll be with an attractive petite woman {my wife}. If you see us come over and say hello!

Barney, I usually vacation down your way in Anna Maria {speaking of BEAUTIFUL places!} Got married on the beach there last year in fact! The wife changed jobs this year, and hasn't earned vacation time yet, which is why we opted for an abbreviated vacation. I'm heartsick that I won't be there this year {been going every year since 91'} but Memphis and Nashville will ease the pain! {Not to mention the tropical storm would have screwed things up, so at least our timing was good!
