After reading the recent postings about John Denver and his music, it took me back to a time and a place.
1977 Ski vests with the lift tags from the trip two years before, long hair, granny glasses and carrying a Ventura acoustic guitar around the college campus. My favorite John Denver song was/is "Rhymes & Reasons". What a memory.
Anybody else want to share a memory of a time and place and a song from any artist?
Peace

Hello,
A similar memory I have locked in the old un-trusty memory bank is this;
In the fall of '87 I was informally touring southern Spain. I met some young adult Spainiards in Malaga, Spain who I became fleetingly close with.
I let them know I was an aspiring singer/songwriter in the style of Gordon Lightfoot and John Denver... they wanted me to sing all the John Denver songs I knew... in an impromtu type setting, I sang a lot of the John Denver songs especially "Annies Song"... The Spainiards absolutely loved the presentation and some of them wanted to take me home with them.
The thing that amazes me most looking back on it all was the fact that I was able to pull all those lyrics/melodies out of thin air... now I would desperately need the "cheat-sheets" to make it happen... How time changes everything?

In 1975, I lived on a Commune in Tenn. called The Farm. I was 24, fresh out of college and in love with John Denver's music. Rocky Mountain High felt like it came from my heart. I was part of the farming crew, and one morning I got up before sunrise and was fixing breakfast( pancakes). I had the radio on to a station in Nashville, and to my astonishment heard "Thank God I'm A Country Boy"! Wow!!!!!!! Here I am "sun's coming up got cakes on the griddle". All I could think of was How did he know???!!! Happy Thanksgiving everyone! James Simmons
