I've always loved the concept though!


I got this idea from a Frasier episode last night. I'm only telling you this so that new writers can see where inspiration can come from if you're write it down when you hear it.

Dahne related a story to the DAd about her aunt who had a old dog that she hated. And Dahne asked her aunt.. why do you keep that old dog around if you hate it so much and her aunt replied "sometimes you just need another heartbeat around".

My mind went WHOA< and I wrote it down.. and this is what I have so far. It's rough, I"m sorry, I'm still trying to work out the perfect melody.

ANOTHER HEARTBEAT

That baby was howling
and the whole house could hear
and it really sounded like
the end of the world was near

a cardboard box and a blanket
and the ticking of that clock
finally put that puppy to sleep
but I never forgot

3 DAYS later she had to confess at the gate
this is where I'm stuck...

The wife has to confess at the gates of heaven that she lied to her husband and said she would be ok... but she died 3 days later.. because his heartbeat was gone.

find a romantic loving way to say that(?)

this is not a test.. just wondered if you all had any input before I drive myself bonkers!!!

Mmmm..maybe give St Pete a bigger role to assuage any guilt she feels, to say heaven is hers because she was everyone's beating heart?
All would have to lead up to the moment, but you definitely have to start with your puppy....

OK this is horrible, I cannot for the life of me make suno sing that chorus right~~ I've tried everything!! it keeps smooshing words together (sigh)

anyone wanna take a stab at it? I tried to space letters to make it sing right... (sigh) HELP!!!

It occurs to me maybe you're being too specific about the meaning of another heartbeat soothing a puppy and a baby.
The two 'examples' in the two Stanzas simply explain the concept.
The Chorus turns philosophical, generic, the narrator taking over and
As always I want to see the 'furniture' of a Singer-Character and a Love-Interest-Character and the simpler concept of hearts in love.

The timing of another heartbeat is a concept. "I wanna get to you, Before Another Heartbeat."
"I wanna tell you now, Before Another Heartbeat."
"I wanna talk to you, Before Another Heartbeat."
"I need to get to you..."
"I need to kiss you now..."
"I gotta..."
"Com'ere Baby! Come and let me feel, Another Heartbeat."
"I just need to feel, Another Heartbeat."
"Com'ere Baby!
Don't waste Another Heartbeat."

I don't think you can space Another... Heart... Beat... and get the Rhythmic effect of the natural speech of how you'd actually say it.

Hey Gary thanks for listening. I wrote this because I've asked many people why they have a pet, and i've been told it's because you just need another heartbeat in the house................. because it's comforting to know another life is in the room.

shorter v2 to get to chorus quicker works , I get the story , Well ya gotta have a dog. Their more help than wifes sometimes

Hay Kay-lynn is it the A NOTHER that your having a problem with? Did not come out right for my ears, have you tried A-NOTHER to see how it works?

The singer is rushing the Another Heartbeat and since the title of the song, I want the words to be "held" out. I'm still trying to figure out how to space and use punctuation to get it to do what I want.
