Suno Music Creator's Universe · Gary Gomez · nSoetordpsm8l61u0alf93ch8m7h1310607ihc0m2867u8htffc93ihgimc3 · The actual Suno copyright situation (as of 2024–2025 for PAID members) Suno’s official Terms of Use say: 1️⃣ You own your lyrics. If you wrote the words, they’re yours. Period. 2️⃣ You own your melody if you created it outside of Suno (humming, singing, sheet music, etc.). BUT — there’s a nuance: 3️⃣ Suno owns the audio output that the system generates. This is where people get confused. You own the creative content (lyrics, melody, composition). Suno owns the rendered audio performance because their AI engine generated it. This does NOT mean Suno owns your song. It means: • You own the song • Suno owns the recording of the song that their system outputs Exactly like: • You can write a song • A friend records it in their studio • You own the song • They own the specific recording file unless you have a contract This is why Suno commercially licenses the track to you royalty-free. They aren’t trying to steal your song. They’re just protecting themselves by owning the machine-made recording. ⸻ ⭐ What can YOU do with your Suno-generated track? You can: • Release it on streaming platforms • Sell it • Post it • Monetize it • Use it in ads And Suno can’t stop you. The only exception: You can’t claim that you created every part of the audio performance manually because the AI generated the instrumentation and vocals. This protects them, not hurts you. ⸻ The truth is: ✔ You own the song ✔ You own the lyrics ✔ You own the melody ✔ You can monetize it ❌ You don’t own Suno’s generated performance audio (the .mp3) ✔ But Suno licenses the audio to you in a way that gives you full commercial use You’re safe. Your music is yours. (See parts 2 and 3 in comments)
There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you? www.garyeandrews.com

Gary its defintly not that simple.
Copyright lawsuits were around long before Suno. Artists have always been stealing from each other, so it has never been and still isnt clear who owns anything.
I mean what makes one persons... la la lala lala LA hey... more orginal than somebody elses... la LALA la la LALA hey
lets say...suno generates a melody from your lyrics. But then you take that melody and record it yourself. you now own the lyrics, the recording and the performance on the recording, but who owns the melody? Suno? Where did suno get it from? from other songs.
Im not sure anyone can claim ownership to anything.
Yeah, suno owns the recording, which is essentially everything. The reason it sounds so good and so professionally polished is cause of suno.
the old expression you cant polish a terd appears to be wrong. you CAN polish a terd, and extremely well.
The typical response from most people when you play them any recording..."sounds good to me"
yeah it does, but so does every billion songs done by suno.
The differentiator has to be YOURSELF. your own voice, perspective, sound, style.
And i guess its always been that way too

Unless you make a huge pile of money, they wont care or say anything. The legal statements in the "contract" can be interpreted many ways. And they will be.
If you are using suno to "create marketable content" then it's not "writing". Plus, this is all online, so the folks running the show may change the rules because someone offers a bigger stack of money. I know I can't afford to sue anyone and the water is getting muddy by the minute.
It's interesting to play with and has some great uses, but I still prefer my guitar and a notebook. I also prefer live recordings over anything I've done in the studio.
