I have two varying versions of a song I've been toying with and I really like them both...

Can I do a poll as to which one I should tweak and add to my catalogue posting?

Personally, the delivery on both is too drawn out for me.

A suggestion...try "adult contemporary, crooner" and see what you get.

Thanks for the listen and suggestion. In this case the song was strongly influenced by Def Leppard. As I wrote it, I could hear them playing it in my head and it drove me forward. It saddens me I am unable to properly present the song with the music intended. Perhaps I may yet sit down and pluck at my guitar one day to get it a bit closer to its truest form.
I realize that for the most part, long, drawn-out songs can be a bit of an acquired taste, but I must create as the creation demands. :-)

For me Dave, it's a matter of the lyrics being compelling.

I'm not sure how many people would "savor" the drawn out guitar work and phrasing. I think that comes at the expense of the message.
The lyrics seem to lend themselves to another genre....(to my ear)

It's your song to do with as you please.

Hi Dave,
in both productions you used the prompt "slow". I would take that out and see what happens.
Here are a few additional prompts you might want to add/play around with:
male vocals
layered harmonies
vocal harmonies
powerful
catchy
anthemic
atmospheric
studio recording

You might also want to try adding a second or third genre like alternative rock, punk, etc.
or, adding individual instruments: acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass, drums, piano, synths, pads
that might get you closer to what you are hearing in your head.

I see more potential in your lyric than Suno is currently giving you.
I like version #2 better than the first one, but like I said, I think Suno can do even better.

I suppose I should have qualified this post initially by stating this song was generated by Suno as a cover to a raw recording of me singing the lyric and playing around with the Advanced settings to find a sound similar to what I hear in my brain. The speed is intentional. Call me crazy, but this is how I hear it in my head; A slow, mesmerizing, atmospheric rock ballad.
But I will certainly toy with Suno some more and see how I can tweak this even further.

I truly appreciate the time you've taken to listen to these variations and offer some really good ideas for prompts. Stay tuned!

when you use anthemic, think of adding Ohh-oo-oo-ohs or Whoa-hoo-hoo-hoos to the intro, break or interlude or even the chorus. The results are awesome!

You can literally hum any old melody into your phone or if you have a laptop/desktop with even a dirt cheap chinese made mic for a couple bucks and Suno will use that melody and intonations in any resulting song. Additionally, it looks like Suno is going have it's own DAW set up. I actually hate their current editing options (I can't get it to work logically like when it cuts off only the last 2 words, which it sometimes fixates on. I even pulled an entire verse, pre chorus and chorus out on the song in question, it gave me back a long version and STILL cut off the last two words. So I rewrote the last line, it STILL cut off the last two words. And the edit bay thing will not just let you finish the song like it used to, it adds random stuff for like 4 minutes instead! But I digress. Everyone hums now and then, while driving play around with a simple melody through a verse and chorus, then upload your hum via a recording into your phone or CPU and let it make a song based on it. Do it for fun, if for no other reason. They best part is then you own 100% of the song no matter how these court cases resolve. And you will get better the more you do it. You like Def Leppard, so hum one of their tunes, then just do something a bit different, go up where they go down and vice versa, speed up when they slow, slow down when they speed up, pretty easily you will have a unique melody of your own. You are missing half the fun of songwriting!

always add Ahhs and Ohhs and other cues throughout and it will improve EVERY song. You can always take them out, but it sure helps personalize the song way more.

Version 2 is spectacular. So are using Suno covers for your song creations now?

Thanks! I started using the Cover feature to see how Suno creates music from recordings of me singing the song I wrote. (all acapella, no instruments).
It gets pretty close to what I imagine, but only in tune. I'm still trying to figure out how to have it include different instruments.
For now I'm just using Styles and trying various prompts as Rob and Brian suggested.

I think it's good on the first version , cool song man. probably a lot of options on Suno to learn , probably a tutorial on Youtube for all the tools
