“The sounds of the singing human voice has outlasted almost every chain, bilbo, and shackle that our capitalistic few could latch onto us. The people that sing their real Peoples songs will be the people that will win our new world just around this next bend.” [Text: Collected in “Pastures of Plenty,” ed. Marsh & Leventhal. “A song ain’t nothing but a conversation fixed up to where you can talk it over and over without getting tired of it. And it’s this repeating the idea over and over that makes it take ahold. If the conversation is about good crops or bad, good politics or bad, good news or bad, good anything else or bad, the best way to circulate it amongst the people is by way of singing it.” – Woody

"The ones that make the big money don’t do much work, and some of them don’t do any at all. They are the ones that get to be millionaires, and multi-millionaires, and billionaires. The people, like you and me, have always been poor and always had very little, and have lived a life of hard times and tough spots." – Woody https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=1147413050752875&set=a.483144210513099

10/23/25 A NOTE FROM ANNA ~ What an absolute honor it was to present U2 with the Woody Guthrie Prize at Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa, OK earlier this week! The Woody Guthrie Prize is an annual fundraiser to support the work of the Woody Guthrie Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to continuing Woody's enduring legacy. Woody and U2 have been aligned for decades. Whether it is protesting against war and violence, standing up for humanitarian rights, singing about greed, corruption, injustice. Each in their own time, in their own voice, they stand up and sing out time and time again for the workers, the poor, the hungry. U2 are modern torchbearers of this mission to make music that fights for dignity, equality, and humanity. They stand firmly in the lineage of ensuring that popular music is also a force for justice and truth. U2 carries this message onto the world’s biggest stages, proving this spirit is alive today. Thank you to U2! Thank you to all of the people who put this fundraiser together, who worked tirelessly to make this incredible evening possible! https://www.u2.com/news/title/aligned-for-decades/
