I've become a fan of the young woman speaking in the video below. She says that she is an atty and specializes in entertainment. She has an AZ ST certificate of some kind on the wall behind her. I have no personal knowledge of her credentials or background, but the she is obviously very bright, well spoken, and appears to know what she is talking about. My conclusion is that she probably is an attorney who knows something about these subjects.
In the video below, She discusses TUNECORE specifically and music distribution platforms in general vis-a-vis their terms and conditions. Things which I never read. But she does and discusses in detail.
Reality check: I will never need her services. My songs will never be viable money generators, however this is a passionate hobby for me and I do use DistroKid and SUNO and it is interesting to find out what "fine print" is involved in my hobby.

Here is the young woman's discussion of DISTROKID which I use.
Also, She has a video dedicated to how she became an atty. She is the best source for truly informed information that I have personally found. I learned in my own life that no atty is the final word on anything, but I think that she can convey a very good grasp of basics to a viewer.
Here is the young atty's observations on UDIO for anyone interested in that.
My personal observation is that none of these legal concerns apply to me in reality. From what I have seen, an artist would need to be streaming multi-millions of plays for any of these legal points to actually matter. Or have a viable relationship with a publisher, where music was actually being placed, such as John S appears to have. And I'm guessing the legal issues would be the publisher's issues. Anyone who can shed some factual reality on that, please do.
Nonetheless, I can't run a 4.2 forty, and I couldn't shake Travis Hunter if he was blindfolded, but I watch the NFL and college football with interest. Same thing with songwriting. I also go to a shooting range and practice occassionally. I own guns strictly for self defense and never ever desire to discharge them at a human in a real situation. My accuracy is average and I will never be a marksman... but I want to be responsibly educated about gun ownership.
It never hurts to be informed, even if it's a hobby. The young atty in the video is helpful with that.

I withdrew my songs from Distro Kid because they were making it hard to access my account and hard to get paid my royalties. They still have some of my royalty money that I will never receive. I'm not saying they were doing anything illegal but I don't like changes being made that I didn't sign up for, changes that were going to cost me money.

I understand Everett. I think that I am going to quit using DKID also. Personally, I have no complaints with the service, but I don't ever actually sell any downloads, so I think it's pointless for me to be on Apple Music and such. Additionally when I upload to DKID, there is a special required APPLE checkbox where you have to say what your actual participation in the music was. "Lyricist only" is not an option when I upload SUNO stuff. I don't know what that is for,but I suspect it is rooted in the AI law-fare.
I get a few spins on Spotify. I might upload to only there, and maybe a couple of other streamers, and see if I can get added to some play lists.

A lot of half baked information gets kicked around about AI and music..and everything else. Not just here but everywhere. It's hard to separate fact from foolishness if you aren't an expert in whatever is under consideration. That is why I started this thread and put up these videos, because the young atty in the video has some true expertise regarding AI and music law, and is the best and most willing source that I have found on the net.
JAPOV (Tony) on the other hand, is an internet troll who is psychologically addicted to annoying people from his computer. In reality he is a tough talking, disabled dude from North Alabama, and an expert on nothing that I have seen him discuss. Not even the end-times evangelizing that he is prone to do on this songwriting site. His most defining characteristic is annoying adults for the emotional reward which that it gives him. View him for what he is.
He'll come back at this in an effort to start a flame war because that is what he lives for. That would go on and on, if I participated, but It's become boring and mind numbingly repetitive. I'm going to let him have the last insult and hopefully he will sober up for church tomorrow.

Tony was very involved in the politics thread, and because you on a whim, suddenly don't want politics, and you manage to convince everyone else to oblige you.
For example, John V, I mean all he's done here is in the politics thread, no harm. But the fact that he's not talking politics cause you don't want it, is annoying.
You also managed to convince the few people here that I'm the bad guy. They won't treat me as any other member.
You have a little clique and that's all you care about.
