I remember people making sure they complimented my thread, or even in a conversation thread, before they posted, hoping that I'd change my attitude and give them a great review. I'd say... Do they really need to try that! I'd still give a. Honest review

The reason that it is easy for me to believe that assertion is because I personally have been the object of your school-girl cyber bullying over my physical appearance. As for the accusations that I repeated, I dont have first hand knowledge of their accuracy. But it is easy for me to see where they could be true. Disclose who you actually are and I will verify who you actually are. Once done, I will try to run down the accusations.

What the hell does that mean? I've been writing songs for 51 years, and I can tell you with full faith and conviction that "Fair-Weather Friends" is not "BAD." Again, it really tickles me.
It may not be anyone's cup of tea, but the song is really good.
Maybe Fd's problem is that too many people have told him his music isn't all that. I don't know...maybe.

And AI music is not worth listening to, in my book. The wonder... the entertainment value goes out the window when it is merely a computer interpretation of a melody and production.

Please all, p-ssing contests are a circle of nowhere until people get too tired. Just move on, we all naturally want to defend our honor and dignities, but its not hard to be respectful and congenial--damn easier actually. There are many personalities on this site for sure, if you don't get along with someone, just ignore them, if you like someone, great--you have a music acquaintance.

Critiques are good and honesty is necessary, but its "how" you say what you say that is matters, and in the end no critic can be unbiased totally anyhow; so opinion cannot escape a critic. (If you don't like a song.......is it that hard just to say, "here area a couple sugs IMO that I think could improve your song and here's why)?" What makes an excellent critic is knowledge in music, lyrical composition, arrangements, & experience in the art. Having said that, the lay person's reactions to songs are also important. A combination of creativity, art, knowledge, and experience along with the lay person's reaction are essential in creating a great song. The creative part, IMO is what makes the difference--in good songwriting, hearing a melody with a chord progression, or lyrics dancing in your head.

Yes John, I remember so many that either have passed or just moved on due to contention in the forums. Fde is correct about Social Media probably also being a large factor on this site's decline. However, I'm getting sick of all the ad-crap on SM. I actually spend more time, when not working, texting good friends and interacting in that manner. I had lots of sugs for this site, but changes are not cheap, and no one wants to spend more on a site that's not growing--I get it. I always wanted a critique forum where there were "multiple choice" sugs for the poster and also a menu of "what" type of opinion/advice they were seeking primarily. Also anonymous or critic listed preference. The other sug I had on posting was two songs posted on a page is enough until one falls to that deep pit on page 2..............I sincerely believe that more people will listen to one song or maybe two than if you post several close together--JMO.

Oh well, the young folks never hang around here very long, so I guess we'll all get old together!

Man... so many music sites are turning into the likes of what we are experiencing here. It really bums me out. There are not that many places to go. One of my longest running participation sites is one I don't even want to post in the "feed-back" section because of the near insane carving people want to do to the songs posted there. It will be hard to fully walk away from these places, but I've been writing for myself for too long to give up because of the BS on these music sites. I'll just go back to writing for my own ears.

That becomes a little theoretical and hard to do after a while Eddie. If the insults keep coming and coming, it becomes hard to ignore gracefully.
When multiple writing partners and people that you enjoy interacting with tell you that they are done with the site because of the antagonisms of one personality, the pointlessness of that is hard to ignore.

The level of acrimony that Fdmetrio generates is not allowed on other sites that I visit. I don't get why it is allowed here.
On the most active site that I visit, I see no acrimony going on. I visit several sites fairly regularly, other than here, and argue with no one about anything. Just exchange information. Music and motorcycle riding. When arguments start, mods cut them off.

The main issue here though isn't just simply quality, quantity, genre or technology. It's a person's high handed disregard and disrespect to someone's work which they the writer have spent a considerable time and effort getting it to the posting stage.
What happened to the times when suggestions for improvement keep or Sweep were put forward?

I respect how you feel and I agree that one should always defend themselves when attacked. But I also realize that "any" antagonist thrives on contention and argument. So when you prolong the argument, you are giving them exactly what they want. An argument is not necessarily a debate that can be won or lost, although done civilly, it could be. Defend/state your case/facts, then be the one to say the "matter is concluded," rather than feed the fire. Do as you wish however, you are your own man but honestly, I don't even know "exactly" ll the details of this rift as I've not been around much and usually abstain from these arguments. Even as a monitor, I cannot delete threads, and I'm not going to start policing either. I do think arguments should be taken to the message forum, rather than hi-jacking a music post however--sorry Tom!

I've had to ban some of those "bad actors" from replying to my threads because of their caustic behavior. It's really quite sad.

And as far as, Fair-weather Friends" go.... I know it's not groundbreaking. There's a bunch of them with basically the same title. For me, it's a fun exercise that I'm writing out of my system. It's a fun song on an old theme. I just wanted to bring something a bit different and at a high level.

I visit several sites. On all but one, "flame wars" are shut down as they start.
Name calling, trolling, stalking are shut down and offenders are given a ban warning.

Those sites remain orderly and focused on music or motorcycle riding.

If you don't shut that stuff down, the result is what goes on here.

It's similar to the border. You have one president who says that it cant be brought to order because of this and that. You have another who brings it to order, in a month.

Mathew (MFBIII) got back to me on Soundcloud.

He said that Fdemetrio, Cletus , Dom etc did harass him in the comments but did not send him harassing texts by phone.
He said that the harassment did stop after he blocked Dom.
I don't recall what I saw posted that led me to believe that, but apparently it was in error.

Whatever I misread was colored by the fact that Dom cyber bullied a 72 year old man (me) by going to my youtube page and linking a video of me playing the guitar to this site and then demeaning and ridiculing my personal appearance."ugly" "Mr Rogers" etc...which he continued to do here in this thread.
