"IN THE FALL" My first listen going down your list. Great demo, David. Tell me? How did you link the files from Suno to here?

Hiya Doug!

Thank you very much for the listen and kind words, sir!

To link a song from SUNO, in SUNO click the elipsis icon (3 little vertical dots) at the far-right end of your listed song title, select Share and Copy Link.

You can then either paste the link directly into your new post on JPF or use the Insert Link icon in the Button bar of your new Post window. (that's what I did)

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Peace,

Dave

So now Dave, the way I understand it is, whenever you have a new lyric/suno music addition, you use this thread to alert us all.
That way we can enjoy your new addition, and, further appreciate its value in conjunction with all the rest of your catalogue.

This is great, I hadn't thought of doing it the way you did it. Nice job! You are welcome to add individual posts if you want, or just come back and update this, either way. I WOULD suggest if you add more, you add it twice, once on your master listing (which looks nice) and also once at the bottom of the page to separate comments from previous posts. Thank you for stepping up Dave!

If we decided it doesn't work, then you can repost it the old way. We need to try different stuff out now and then. I do think I would add your lyrics however. Maybe when you add a song, add the link and lyrics as a new post, then add it to your archive at the top. I wish we had done this back in the old days when we had tons of posters, but live and learn! The traffic is still good, so maybe this approach will pay off, or we'll go back to the old way.

Can you post this as an instruction for new users and I will pin it at the top (do it as a new post on the A.I. board) so anyone else who wants to try can use the same approach. Definitely let's experiment with posting the lyrics in some way. I had originally thought we would post the lyrics with the new link as a new response, then edit the original post to add the new stuff. I wish we had a way to add the little graphic that accompanies your song, but I haven't even found a way to embed it or download a copy of it. It's too bad. Most are throwaways, but now and then I get a keeper.

Hey Brian,

New instructional post done!

As far as adding an image, you can include a image link when creating a new post. I was able to copy the image link and add it to my post, but the image size is far too big.
Is there any place on the JPF server for users to upload images? We could set a smaller size for images (think thumbnail). Just a thought.

Peace,

Dave

"In The Fall"

Lyrics by David Gill

[v1]
The night that we met
was a cool April eve
but I didn't know
you had tricks up your sleeve
You drew me in with your
sweet siren call
Alive in the Spring
but certain to end
in the Fall

[ch]
Falling for you
just as fast as I'm able to go
There's no going back
Once I jump
better watch out below
Beauty and sex
what your body projects
blindly I leap to it all
We met in the Spring
but my life might end
in the fall

[v2]
The air's getting colder
I'm chilled to the bone
Waited all night
ended up all alone
The scent of your body
still haunting my bed
your echoing lies
playing round in my head

[ch]
Falling for you
just as fast as I'm able to go
There's no going back
Once I jump
better watch out below!
Beauty and sex
what your body projects
blindly I leap to it all
We met in the Spring
but my life will end
in the fall

[br]
You cradle me softly
then drop me again
Who needs enemies
When I've got you, my friend
Inevitably
I'll be right back again
Hoping to fly in your skies
Falling each time for your lies

[ch]
Falling for you
just as fast as I'm able to go
There's no going back
Once I jump
better watch out below!
Beauty and sex
what your body projects
blindly I leap to it all
We met in the Spring
but my life will end
in the fall

My Wife's in Love with Jon Bon Jovi

Lyrics by Dave Gill

[v1]
When I was seventeen
I met the girl of my dreams
She was sweet and innocent
like no one I've seen
I took a chance and took her out
soon enough I had no doubt
that she would be my wife
and we'd have the perfect life

[V2]
She bought me a birthday gift
the very next year
It was the "Slippery When Wet" album
and I couldn't wait to hear
She didn't know the band
So I played her a song
but when she heard his angel voice
then everything went wrong
cause now

[ch]
My wife's in love with Jon Bon Jovi!
Look at that body
how does he find time to play?
My wife's in love with Jon Bon Jovi!
Every time he smiles
I can feel her slip away
She knows when he's on tv
and sees all his interviews
She can't be found when he's in town
Man, it's giving me the blues
I got no one else to blame but me
Cause she loves Jon Bon Jovi

[V3]
It started out so innocent
At first I was the man
But little did I know her love was
slipping through my hand
She'd hear a song on the radio like
"Never Say Goodbye"
And soon she'd be all over me
So good I'd almost cry
But it wasn't me she was lovin' on
I was merely playing host
she'd scream "Oh Jon!" a dozen times
and I couldn't even boast
because

[ch]
My wife's in love with Jon Bon Jovi!
His teeth are so white
They're seen from the moon
My wife's in love with Jon Bon Jovi!
If I don't see him act again
it'll be way too soon
She knows when he's on tv
and sees all his interviews
She can't be found when he's in town
Man, it's giving me the blues
I got no one else to blame but me
Cause she loves Jon Bon Jovi

[br]
Oh, How could I have been so wrong?
Oh, I never should have played that song!

[ch]
My wife's in love with Jon Bon Jovi!
Look at that body
how does he find time to play?
My wife's in love with Jon Bon Jovi!
Every time he smiles
I can feel her slip away
She knows when he's on tv
and sees all his interviews
She can't be found when he's in town
Man, it's giving me the blues
I got no one else to blame but me
Cause she loves Jon Bon Jovi
I got no one else to blame but me
cause she loves Jon Bon Jovi

"Already Broken"

[V1]
There's a bunch of trouble
there are problems galore
and somehow it seems to find me
when I walk out the door
even though I duck and weave
and keep a smile on my face
there is always that one person
trying to shadow my space

Oh no. Oh yeah. It's true

[V2]
I plan to keep it civil
I don't mean to offend
but I gotta tell ya buddy
this is finally the end
take your vitriol and poison
and get out of my view
I got plenty of my own
and I don't need none from you!

[CH]
'cause
You can't break
what's already broken
Try as you may
and as hard as you might
You can't take
what's already stolen
I hope that what I'm sayin'
helps you to see the light
You can spit up all your venom
You can curse and you can shout
at the end of all your bitchin'
you're the one to lose out
I realize this prob'ly ain't
what you might be hopin'
But man, you can't break
what's already broken!

Chasing Sunlight

[Verse]
Early wake up
Coffee's hot
I finish breakfast, grab my camera
off to find the perfect spot
Every mornin'
Never miss
Sunrise moments just like this

[Chorus]
I take snapshots of the sunrise
Watch the colors paint the skies
See the magic through my lens
focused on my new best friend

[Verse 2]
Got my flannel
Got my hat
Boots are muddy, it's okay
I kinda like it like that
Fields are golden
Sky's ablaze
Catching dawn's first smiling rays

[Chorus]
I take snapshots of the sunrise
Watch the colors paint the skies
See the magic through my lens
focused on my new best friend

[Bridge]
Roosters crow and shadows flee
Light spills over every tree
Take a picture, feel the breeze
photographs and memories

[Verse 3]
Every photo
tells a tale
Every morn a new adventure
chasing sunlight, never fail
Keeps me grounded
fills my day
With the sun's first warm display

[Chorus]
I take snapshots of the sunrise
watch the colors paint the skies
See the magic through my lens
Focused on my new best friend

taking snapshots
chasing sunlight
Focused on my new best friend

Good job here Dave. Nice visual interpretation of Brian idea. It has nice potential. Now when I check out one of your new songs....Its a refresh. It has background, more power and substance. yeah!

Thanks for keeping this going Dave. If no one else joins in, then you'll be getting most of the eyeballs. plan to eventually post my stuff, I am just too busy when I have free time. I am trying to convert as many of my 2300+ recordings (plus another 300+ DAW tracks I have done in the past 2 years which are just music tracks and scribbled lyrics. My voice is quite limited these days after some health challenges. I am hoping they will add more features to help me incorporate vocals into my DAW tracks, otherwise, once I get through my back catalog, I will start in on the DAW tracks.

"Too Busy In My Free Time" .. I think I found a new hook! LOL!!

I am curious, how many versions of your songs do you make before you find the one you keep? I usually go through 30-50 versions to get as close to what I want as I can. Now and then it still falls short, but for me, I find A.I. eventually locks into amazingly close to what I heard in my head when I start working on a song. I have the largest membership, but still ran out of tracks last month. I missed 2 weeks of this month (my month starts on the 26th) so I likely won't run out this month.

I rarely get a keeper in the first 10 tries.

I listened to stuck here at the light, I liked it, nice light hearted song expressing how we all feel at times. One little change, I'd put the word (me) in brackets after the word saw, no big deal, good song.

Hey Brian,

Yessir.. I go thru approximately 5-10 renditions typically to find my "base" song. Then I tweak the lyric as needed to keep the flow, snip and extend it a few times, etc. All in all I would say most times I go through about 20 renditions before I'm happy enough to share it. There are other songs that I just do for fun and could care less what Suno does with it and share it immediately just for kicks. I do not have anywhere near the library of songs as you do though, so I haven't run out of credits before it resets each month. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing, honestly. smirk

Looking forward to hearing what you've been working on.

Peace,

Dave

Hey Everett!

I actually considered that initially but wasn't able to convince myself to use proper English for that line. LOL!

Thanks so much for the listen and feedback, sir! I truly appreciate it.

"Who I Would Be"

Lyrics by Dave Gill

The end of October came rushing by
I can't believe how time can fly
It's enough to make a grown man cry
to think what I've been through
A friend of mine and me at the bar
The night of Halloween
He said "Who do you want to be this year?"
And a thought occurred to me

Lots of people go as monsters
just scaring everyone
or dress up like a police officer
with a badge and gun
It seems tonight could use a change
perhaps something brand new
like a stronger, braver me
with lots of work to do

This time of year is a time for reflection
I'd get a head start in a new direction
I wouldn't go and try to shoot for perfection but
I know what I'd need to do
It wouldn't be about the glory or fame
Heck, I doubt anyone would remember my name
But I would give it my best shot just the same
And wouldn't stop 'til I was through

I could be the one who
makes it all right
I could be that guy
a better man for my wife
and a father to my son
someone I should have been
like a stronger, braver me
so I could try again

I stepped outside to the icy wind
as it cut me to the bone
I stumbled down to the overpass
and my shaky cardboard home
I dreamt of my ex-wife and kid
the thought took my breath away
I'd give anything
to be someone else today

I probably wouldn't cure cancer
or ever stop a war
But I know that somewhere deep inside me
there's really so much more
I don't need a cape
to do what's right
or to end a catastrophe
I could be something brand new
A stronger, braver me
Yeah, I'd like to be something brand new
a stronger, braver me

Thanks, Bill. I'd been toying with this one for a while and got to a point where I was like "Ok, Dave. Post it or trash it."

I appreciate the listen and kind words, sir!!

"Who I Would Be"

Fantastic Concept! Really like it smile

However, it occurs to me;
Guys who live in cardboard boxes under the overpass, generally don't hang with friends in bars and have epiphanies about better living... while celebrating Halloween.

I think that verse should be about something more "universally relatable".

The singer character can certainly be down on his luck... just not THAT low wink

The journey is definitely more important than the destination...

Hey Tony,

I hear ya, sir! I wrote this from my limited perspective. I dunno. Honestly, I would hope this would NOT be "universally relatable", however.

I'd rather NO ONE ever need have to know about this subject or experience it for that matter. Be that as it may, I don't think it too far a stretch for a story of a homeless guy who has a friend he talks to in a bar about Halloween and the regret he lives with. That's the joy of storytelling in song, right?

Thank you very much for the listen, kind words and feedback! I appreciate you!

Peace,

Dave

Red Light was my first listen, you have a great hook, and idea going on here David. I enjoyed it, like the way you told two stories at once with the frustration of the light, and why you were in such a hurry. Good stuff.

This is great David, hope it's not true but I can see how it could happen. Teeth so white, you can see em from the moon lmao. Loved everything about these lyrics.

Who would I be -
I disagree, I've seen homeless people in bars before, and I'm sure they wish things had turned out differently, that they had done things different, and struggle with regrets. I think this is a beautiful piece of writing here. This is one I wish I had written. Beautiful, and insightful David. Nice work.

The story is true as far as meeting my (then future) wife, the gift she gave me and our continued love for not only each other, but for Bon Jovi, too. smile We'll hit our 34th this year.

This Here Song

Lyrics by Dave Gill

This here's the song that
we love to sing
filled with the words that
say all the things
expressing our deepest emotions
relative to what life brings

This here's the song that
we sing aloud
whether alone or
here with the crowd
sharing our hearts and devotions
happy or sad or just proud

there are a million
stories like this
a million more
left to be told
but this song is different
it's meant for us all
a story that never gets old

This here's our song and
make no mistake
it brings us together
whatever it takes
seeing the faces among us
creating a bond that won't break

there are a million
stories like this
a million more
left to be told
but this song is different
it's meant for us all
a story that never gets old

This here's a song that
we love to sing
filled with the words that
say all the things
expressing our deepest emotions
(we sing aloud!)
sharing our hearts and devotions
(here with the crowd!)
it's really the simplest notion
(whatever it takes!)
This here's the song that
we love
we love to sing

This was inspired by a recent interview article with Alice Cooper.

Over-the-Counter Rockstar

The 70's and 80's
are basically a blur
How I made it this far
I'm really not sure
The Rocker's life
the one made of dreams
came crashing down
the more I aged
it seems

My hearing's shot
my joints are stiff
sometimes I play the wrong damned riff
I stopped drinking Whiskey, vodka and gin
There's still drugs backstage
but now it's
ibuprofen

Sex and drugs
and rock and roll
Forget the first two
I'm too old
I can still
seduce my fans
but a nap
is certainly
in my plans

I'm almost blind
from all the lights
my pills tell me if it's day or night
I stopped smoking bags of pot
There's still drugs backstage
but now it's
Icy-Hot

Live a life of excess
Live the Rockstar dream
Just make sure you're living
Near a Rite Aid or Walgreens

I've looked life dead in the eye
Laughing through all the tears I've cried
Some days I wonder why I try
then I hit a perfect chord

God and Zombies

Can zombies be saved?
Is there any way
that zombies can make it to Heaven?
It isn't their fault
how they turned out like that
the choice was not theirs
which brings up the question
what about vampires
or werewolves
or cursed?
Are regular people
set to be saved first?

If there is any room
left for the damned
Is it only then God will
lend them a hand?
I wonder if God loves zombies
I wonder if God loves zombies

What if a human
was turned in a church
while they were praying to heaven
Would he save a zombie
wearing a frock
don't get me wrong
I'm just asking the question
same for the vampires
or werewolves
or cursed
Are church-going humans
meant to go first?

If there is any room
left for the damned
Is it only then God will
lend them a hand?
I wonder if God loves zombies
I wonder if God loves zombies

Laugh as you wish
or maybe you're mad
but questions
with no answers
are lonely and sad

Does God love zombies?
Can zombies be saved?
It's not their fault
It's not their fault
I wonder if God loves zombies
I wonder if God loves zombies

Hey Brian,

Since I had no expectations, I would say it's working as expected. crazy hehehe

According to the count there have been over 3k views of this post. There has been a spattering of comments from our locals here (all of which I am SINCERELY grateful for) and I will happily continue to contribute new material when my spirit moves me to do so. I've yet to be contacted by anyone interested in producing or using any of my songs here, but that's okay. It's just nice to have this outlet for my creativity.

What are your thoughts?

Peace,

Dave

A.I. music is awesome for creators, but it might be the end of commercial value for music itself. If you are TRULY in it for the art and expression, then you should be okay with that idea. The tools that will soon be in every hand will make buying music pointless. Anyone interested in music will simply do it for themselves OR they will train A.I. to understand the styles of music they love and A.I. will endlessly meet their desires. This will also go for films and other cultural content. I am not saying great art made exclusively by humans won't ALSO be appreciated, but with literally billions of new songs being made per year with any and every person who wants to make them adding to the pile, the idea of being a famous musician will shift to being a loved "content creator" and people will subscribe to YOU, not to your music. If someone loves what YOU do, no matter how you get there, you can still earn money and have a career. May more people will have a sustainable career making content than every before in history. Instead of 100 "chart" stars at any given time, as in days past, it will be 100s of thousands (or more) content creators, often working independently, who will find that success. In the end, it means MORE little people will have success than at any time in history. There will still be artists pushed with brute force, by corporations, but (especially for young people) you need only put out your shingle, sign on to every social media platform and start cranking out interesting things for people to listen to, watch, read or otherwise be entertained by. If you have none of the skills needed, learn by doing until you find your audience. If you DO it, you WILL find a following. This has been my message for 40 years and it has never been untrue. Most people don't really want to relentlessly work to build something. They want easy street. This is how corporation have ALWAYS suckered artists into terrible one sided deals. A little short term cash can get a lot of talented people to sign on and sign away control so they get support and guidance and a little money. But it always comes back to haunt people.

Anyone can get a YouTube channel, and/or all the other site accounts and just start at it. Even older people can do it. But most people don't truly want to work that hard. Few people not born (or marrying) into wealth and success ever find it without a LOT of hard work for a sustained time period. And in truth, it is less about talent and more about effort that keeps most from success. It was a hurdle I finally had to get over, but as soon as I did, so many doors opened WIDELY.

A Beautiful Day

It's gonna be a beautiful day today
It's gonna be a beautiful day today
I can't wait to go out and play
It's gonna be a beautiful day!

It's gonna be a beautiful day today
I hope the sun never goes away
I can't wait to go out and play
It's gonna be a beautiful day!

Run, run, run
Skip and hop
Tell the sun
to never stop!

It's gonna be a beautiful day today
It's gonna be a beautiful day today
I can't wait to go out and play
It's gonna be a beautiful day!

It's gonna be a beautiful day
gonna be a beautiful day
gonna be a beautiful day!!
