“Take On The Fire” was written as a warning to all those who would fall into the world of creation with artificial intelligence. A.I. is the new and exciting fad, and the fascination with this technology assures its foothold in our psyches. The promise of easy artistic works will lead us down a road of creative dependence. It has already begun. “Take On The Fire”Words & Music By Tom Tognacihttps://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14942309Take on the fire; the fire will take you You play the game, boy, but the rules weren’t meant for you Step in the box, and the box will shut you in Cut you off before you can begin Take on the fire; into the flames you go Just be careful, boy; it’s a world you’ll never know And how you’ll yearn for that thing no one can teach Always close, but always out of reach And I know you know better, but it’s the game you have to play Beware those puppet strings when the spotlight blinds your way Take on the fire; it’s here and all the rage Yes, it’s tempting, boy; it’s the start of a brand-new age And you’ll go on, only to one day feel Rather numb to all that was once real And I know you know better, but it’s the game you have to play Beware those puppet strings when the spotlight blinds your way Take on the fire; into the flames you go Just be careful, boy; as the flames begin to grow Take on the fire, by the time you feel its burn The time will be long past the point of no return

I heard Lennon, but also a Kinks type melody or maybe even Bowie.
Suffice to say, this was raw, yet captivating--loved it. I can hear so many cool arrangement things that could be done with this!

Great song! And yes, I heard all the influences others have pointed out. No bad thing! Sounds grat.
My only suggestion would be change "Take on the fire" to "Step into the fire."
The AI thing works with your introduction. I'm not sure I would have got it without that.

steady-eddie Thanks steady... I, too, hear a lot of what could be accomplished in a studio. Since I don't have a studio for such things, I left it as a sketch. Glad you like it. "Take on the fire" was the inspiration behind the song, and besides, I do have "step in the box" as a line in the first verse. As far as not getting the meaning behind my lyric.... ambiguity is how I like to write. Only this time (and maybe from now on) I am going to preface what my intent is. It's a wonderful thing, if done right, to have a song mean different things to different people.

Yeah, it sounds like you singing it. It took me 5 minutes with Suno's cover function. I just created a cover of your original track and added some instruments. I made the track available as a download. You can grab a copy before I take it down again.

Love both versions...Rob's off course is more "polished", but Tom you gave him great raw material to play "AI" with.......and yeah...grab on to those flames....love that voice melding at the end..and a nice clean finish.
If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop

Hey there John.... nice to see ya. The cover function of SUNO may be of interest, but Rob fell of the edge of the world, so I can't get any more info. Thanks for listening and commenting. Suno did a good job, Like a work tape to demo It's a good start. The "cover function" of SUNO may allow authorship of lyrics and melody.... and the mood. All integral facets to ownership.
