Hi folks, with a title like this I don't believe a trigger warning is necessary 😉 This was written in the spirit of our American revolution, reflecting the long, hard four years that the MAGA campaign journeyed to the White House. It's not intended to disparage any of the fine people of America. Consider this message with a grain of salt, or not. It's my song, and it's a song attempting to capture the fighting spirit that gave us that historic victory we call the presidential election of 2024. Let me know what you think. Thanks Let’s Make America Great AgainWords & Music By Tom Tognacihttps://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14938394There’s no time for wasting the time that we have. Bandage the wounded; lay thick the salve. The battle was won, but the war presses on. Make ready, you Captains; it’s only begun. And it’s a matter not of if, but when. Our hearts may buckle and bend, But if the cause is worth our blood to defend, Let’s Make America Great Again. A prayer for the good men true to the cause. To you fine ladies, deserving applause! For here I know not who of us God will save. But we’ll win for all those laid into a grave. And do I hear a rousing Amen? Take heart; our prayers will ascend, And if our cause is worth its fight to the end, Let’s Make America Great Again. To the big whips of Congress and all you unknowns, Stand up and get off your paper thrones. The road to glory will be met with a shrill, For the devils are here, and on Capitol Hill. The time has come to root out the sin— The traitors, the turncoats within. If our blood is worth more than the ink in your pens, Let’s Make America Great Again. To all you nay-sayers who sit in the back, Just shaking your heads and throwing up flak, The road’s a long one and it’s hell-awful wide. You’re welcome to join us or move to the side, And we’ll see the true colors of men— The ones that count in the end. It’s the red, white, and blue we fight for, my friends.

A song like this invites political comment, but I'll try to avoid that and stick to the song itself. I get what Tony says with "Dylanesque." To me, this has a kind of Woody Guthrie feel to it, musically, which clashes uncomfortably with the lyric with its talk of "devils," "traitors" and "turncoats," "blood" and "glory.". In tone, it's more "Horst Wessell Lied" than "This Land Is Your Land," It sounded strange in my ear, a kind of cognitive dissonance. I'll give it another listen and see if that's just due to the initial surprise at this unusual combination.

I hate pointless foreign wars with sh*t rules of engagement and fear the cartels and the criminal free-for-all that has been the border. And I despised Biden and Harris for blatantly letting these criminals come in and live largely uncontested in my city. I had a personal experience with MS13 in a gentrifying neighborhood where I was building a spec house. And I agree with everything that I have heard Trump say about foreign trade imbalances. As a result, I like what Trump is doing.
But there will be mistakes and unfortunate circumstances, such as some kid catching a bullet in an ICE raid. Rest assured that Trump's opposition is hoping for that. Those things will fuel a backlash. My suggestion is not to get inebriated on Trump's EOs and throw a party. That will also fuel a backlash. My suggestion...just be glad and quietly watch. The dims thought that they had a lock on DEI and they got drunk on it. Don't be like the dims.

But the "traitors" are all of those who took our votes and our trust and turned them into their personal bank rolls. The "turncoats" are all those that pulled out their proverbial knives when the going got rough. But of course, one man's traitor or turncoat is another's hero. I'm very, very glad you found this different.... we have enough writers who love using the same old formulas. Thanks, again! And BTW....never heard of "Horst Wessell Lied" and that is pretty off base Gavin to link my song to Naziism. Let's try to keep this civil. You don't have to post on this thread if it bothers you too much. it is only a song, after all. If you have a problem with my sentiment, just take a mirror to your own democrat party. Here is a link to what many in your party are saying: https://www.breitbart.com/politics/...-trump-shut-down-the-city-we-are-at-war/

And that includes, VERY much so, Trump and his administration. It's America first, and no one person or administration. Thanks for posting.

I didn't say you were a Nazi. I'm sure you're not. What I meant is that the strident, militant tone and some of the imagery is similar to that song in style, which it is. It immediately made me think of it. But you're right, I should have known better than to use that particular example, so I apologize for the offense.

And although you didn't directly call me one, just the association is nauseating. I hates 'dem Nazi's....and roaches. Disgusting. We've thrown around those kinds of words around so much that they've almost lost their meaning. However, with that said, the spread of communism is more a threat here and around the world than any Nazi, skin-head movement. And I don't believe you are a Nazi, or a communist, either. We are just a couple of guys writing and sharing songs. "Let's Make....Again" is a dramatization painted with the colors of our great American Revolution. Now, that's not to say we aren't in a war, so to speak. We are in a war of words, narratives, and belief systems. We are in a war as to how our children are to be taught....and frankly, who owns our children. Our children belong to the ones who brought them into the world, and to the ones that take care of them and feed them. That right there opposes Nazi ideology. Anyways......no hard feelings. You are a good man. I've heard that term thrown at others that were definitely not Nazis.......without any apologies or remorse. Nazi's and Commies....roaches, one and all!

I guess they don't want to step on any snakes. While Nazis and devils are real...... we need to take care with where we point the finger.

Hey Tom, great song, I love it. You know, if I had heard this song in the 70s or 80s I could have really related to it. But times have changed. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against making America great again. But if that means we have to steal Greenland away from Europe with military force, we have to take control of the Panama Canal just because our President has a hotel there and was charged for evading millions of dollars of taxes, we buy Gaza (why would we want to buy land in Palestine with American taxpayer money?), forcing Canada to become a US state even though they don't want to, then I’m not sure about the message of your song. When you write “If the cause is worth our blood to defend” I’m thinking … what are we defending when we take over Greenland from a close ally? We are becoming aggressors, taking land and resources away from other countries. Is that the way we will make America great again? The devils here and on Capitol Hill that you mentioned … umm, do you mean the Republicans? You know, they are in charge now. Your lyrics are full of war-like actions (fighting, blood, battles, war, devils and traitors). I actually wish we could make America great again without all of that. This sounds as if people will have to die in order for America to become great again. Like I said, in this day and age the message of your song is different than years ago. Well, that's the way I see it.
All the best - Robert

All the best - Robert Hey there Rob, thanks for commenting. Everything you are saying has some truth to it. But you have to realize you are listening to bits and pieces of the truth. You aren't hearing the complete arguments. I'll only address one of your concerns: The USA is not going to take Greenland by military force. That fear has been intentionally rumored by our wonderful news media. For the rest of your concerns, I ask you to watch and see. People can talk and talk and talk, stirring up fear and loathing. It's a tactic. And as far as "the devils are here and on Capitol Hill"... I say yes.....both republicans and democrats can fill those hooved like shoes. The people who voted MAGA are interested in making America great again, not in taking over countries. We are all interested in stopping war, not starting them. Anyways, that's how I see it, here in America. I have eyes on the ground. All I can ask from you is to watch and see. Take care and God bless, -Tom

Take care and God bless, -Tom Well, you say the USA is not going to take Greenland by military force. I hope you’re right because our President said he wouldn’t rule that out. Tom, please don’t blame the press. Blame Mr. Trump. You can watch him on video saying that. If you didn’t see him say it, then you aren’t hearing the complete arguments. Can you imagine what the Danish people (and the rest of Europe) thought of America when he said that? As for some of my other points, it’s not just talk, talk, talk. I’m being personally affected by one of his new executive orders. I don’t want to go into details here anymore. But I fully agree with you that most Americans are not interested in America taking over parts of foreign countries and starting wars. It looks like our President doesn’t care what we are interested in. The big question will be … who will stop him from invading these countries. But back to your song. It’s very good. I just think the timing isn’t perfect. All the best - Robert

Yes the "times are a chang'n" again. However, it's sort of flipped! I dig your song, kind of a tribute to Dylan as well.

OK.....I'll believe it when I see it. Tom, it's happening right now and you're not seeing it. He's overturning the government, throwing everybody out. That's what dictators do. He's got most of the rich business leaders on his side because he promised to cut their taxes. He's giving highly confidential information about the government and each of us to private people, some are active in the Dark Net. Don't you see what is already happening? The American people voted for him among other things because he promised to bring prices down on day one. Now he's saying his tariffs could make life in America even more expensive. During his campaign he didn't mention that was going after Canada, Greenland, Gaza and Panama. He's not the President the American people voted for. I think Elvis is right. It's too late to stop him. We've given him too much power. He has the military behind him. Nobody can stop him. We'll see what happens. Your song could be spot on in 4 years from now.

Rob, with all due respect, you are sitting there in Germany, telling me what is happening here in the USA. Really? I live here and I am watching the news every day and closely. In fact, I've been watching the news VERY closely for over 30 years. But I get it. You think you are getting the unfiltered truth. Really... I get it. We could go on and on and on.... you aren't going to change your mind, and neither am I, unless the common sense and reality of Trump's presidency dictate that change of mind. You've made your opinions clear. I think I've made mine. I don't want this thread to escalate into nasty territory. Take care and God bless.

Because of the media, you see it your way and I see it my way. That is how it is. And your Bio listed you from Germany. Did you just change it? Anyways.... take care Rob.

Tom, yes, I forgot to update my profile. I travel a lot.
I've been following your music for years. Not just here at this site. I'm a big fan of your music.
You advised me to watch and see. If Trump doesn't come after me, I'll do that.
Take care Robert

Americas been great
Always has been.
The problem for the song is other than lets make America great again line, there's nothing in it that says what woukd make it great
.without the maga line nobody would know what your talking about.
Defend what?
There’s no time for wasting the time that we have. Bandage the wounded; lay thick the salve. The battle was won, but the war presses on. Make ready, you Captains; it’s only begun. And it’s a matter not of if, but when. Our hearts may buckle and bend, But if the cause is worth our blood to defend, Let’s Make America Great Again. make it great...

Well... there are those in America that have stated that "America was never that great" Ex-Gov, Cuomo of NY said that himself. The first verse pretty much picks up after Trump's 2024 election victory. It warns that while MAGA won a great victory, the war has only begun. Defend from what, you ask? LOL..... well, if you don't know, there isn't much of a point arguing any muse or opinion I might present. Let's just say from and against the "devils, the traitors and the turncoats within". And I do agree.... however, while America has always been great, there are those in America who carry the banner "Build Back Better" Do yourself a favor and look that one up. And then research its origins. Have a good night, and God bless.

Only an idiot would say America was never that great, and a bigger idiot that it's suddenly great, now
But for purposes of song...
But if the cause is worth our blood to defend, Let’s Make America Great Again. make it great
What blood are you Shedding to make America great again?
Who are you defending against Dems verse Republicans?
Take the maga line out and see if anybody knows what it's about.

It's not a bad song, it has one conviction in it, I just don't think it's clear, linking several ideas that don't necessarily work together.
But we can still move on

I should have read you opening comments better. Now your lyrics make sense to me. This is about the MAGA movement. The battle, the war on January 6, the fierce fight between the supporters and the police, the bloodshed, the deaths, and traitors like Mike Pence that they wanted to hang. You did a pretty good job describing that movement. Well-written.

It can find dirt in the purist snow and can twist itself through cracks and crevasses that a snake would envy. The human imagination can wring water from the dryest desert sand. I'm, at the very least, honored that you take the time to read this song. Thank you.

"Money is worst reason to be motivated NOT to do anything. Instead of letting those concerns STOP you, use it to motivate yourself to find an alternate solution that bypasses money. You will soon find that your own resourcefulness is worth far more than a pile of paper money." –Brian Austin Whitney
