Youtube has pros and cons. With YouTube you get to cheat, being shown everything instead of developing ear.

And you're kinda jumping around from tip to tip, some more advanced than others, with no logical steps.
It's a free for all, kinda was for me anyway, I learned most of guitar on my own. Takes much longer but your developing you ear too.

I'm pretty sure Dad never thought I'd be playing still all these years. I'm sure he thought I'd plat for a few days and quit, which vast majority of people do.
I think people see themselves on stage with the guitar, not realizing it aint freaking easy.
For me it was like a lightbulb lit up. I was hooked.
Think at 14 I quit baseball and didn't even try out for highschool team.
I tried out my senior year, made the cuts but heart wasn't in it.

Ya gotta love the grift. The fact that money changed hands on this complete joke is as entertaining as the ridiculous sight of a wannabe boxer and a washed up old man in debt needing a cash injection play fighting for millions. We have a digital antenna so I put on an actual network channel to watch a football game and the shows were so bad I was actually surprised. Not having watched any network TV for the past 10 years really allows you to cleanse their nonsense from your brain. So seeing it without the conditioning of a lifetime of going along with it a half hour at a time, it is shocking that I was able to disengage my brain enough to watch any of their trash. Even football is losing its one time appeal. It is looking quite manipulated by gambling interests. Super dumb idea to legalize, and now people are getting what they paid for, I guess.
I ask myself "how did you EVER watch any of this stuff" and all I can think is that I was in a trance we've all been groomed to fall into. School, day jobs, news from any source and entertainment from any mainstream source all just suck a little bit of resistance out of you over time. That makes you subservient to giving the ownership class a giant cut of your productivity for the privilege this mind numbing drug called "culture" they have created to keep the slaves on the plantation and working away for them. A tale as old as time.

The guy that wrote "Dead Puppies" (at least the guy claimed he did) used to teach guitar at Rancho Elementary School near Camp Pendleton... I was in the 6th grade.
Within the first week, he told my Mom that I just didn't have the "knack" and there was no sense in me wasting time in his class...
My parents, of course, had already been teaching me for several years at that point... and were frustrated with me as well. So, they offered him no argument.

Anyway, they transferred me to home ec where I learned to bake cookies and kiss girls
