I posted this lyric previously in the other lyric forum: This SUNO music

https://suno.com/song/47498bd7-7df3-45a2-8428-e796deea4463

What do I fear the most?
Be it Be my
Core reverbing
A family tide
From....the crowded room
Run and Hide
And me
Left alone

Verse
Left alone
How could it be
I told the truth
Then turned around
To everyone gone
Leaving me
An Island

Bridge
What do I do with an Island
Plant some trees
Grow a Garden
Build a tiny cone
Send a message home

I see me
Nothing to fear
I see me
Nothing to fear
I'm OKay
Love,

Alone

From UDIO website terms of use:

6.4 Attribution. If you exploit or otherwise make any public use of any Output, or any content that includes any Output (in whole or in part), including the distribution of Output in the form of or as part of audio or audio-visual recordings made available via any third party application, website or platform, then you agree to include a credit, notice or other indicator in connection with such use (e.g., in the track title, in the credits section, etc.) that .

prominently indicates that such Output was generated using the Services.....so you must credit UDIO when you post your song.

I just link it straight to UDIO website.

From Suno site :
If you are a user of the free tier of the Service then, you covenant and agree that you will only use Outputs generated from Submissions made by you through the Service solely for your lawful, internal, personal and non-commercial purposes, provided that you give attribution credit to Suno in each case.

So it seems to me, if one is an amateur, if ones music is in early development, unrefined, not worth much anyway....you could have fun and learn with AI software.

But if you start getting good as a writer....better watch out!

I have taken beginner drum lessons....brass band type music notation. I woke up early one morning with a basic rhythm, and wrote out the music notation, then wrote words to match the rhythm, not too concerned w storyline.
Suno converted this to 3/4 time...or is it 6/8 time....and though the music is very basic, it clicks so nicely...had to save it.

I like delta blues and wish to duplicate its sound with my guitar and lyric. I'll use udio to get it going.

My lyric idea is to play on the word "Rundown" and its various possible meanings.

Anybody interested in adding a line or two?

I'm feeling unkempt, unsound, unbound
I used to be a star

Got to rundown rundown rundown
That new found me

But I'm rundown rundown rundown
Feeling unhealthy

Suno and Udio getting sued...so interesting!

Here is a youtube I watched and some kind commenter did a highlight summary for quick refence:

The record industry is suing AI music startups Suno and Udio for copyright infringement.
00:14 The music industry has historically been a strong opponent against new technologies that challenge copyright.
00:28 The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and major labels like Universal, Sony, and Warner are seeking significant damages.
00:56 The RIAA claims that Suno and Udio are hiding their infringement rather than operating lawfully.
01:24 Suno argues their platform generates new music and does not memorize or reproduce existing content.
02:06 Suno's executives anticipated the lawsuit, viewingit as a cost of doing business.
02:33 RIAA states they are open to AI but only if developers work with them and respect copyright.
03:02 The core issue is whether training AI on copyrighted material constitutes copyright infringement.
04:19 Industry experts suggest there are ways to develop AI models that respect copyright laws.
04:45 The main legal question is whether AI training falls under fair use.
05:28 Advocates argue that AI music creation is transformative and should be covered under fair use.
06:09 The debate includes whether AI's use of music harms the market for original works.
06:37 The limited number of musical inputs complicates the issue of copyright in music.
07:06 Some believe the labels are suing to gain control and profit from AI music technology.
07:34 The legal and public opinion battles are crucial in determining the future of AI in music.
08:17 Machines can process vast amounts of data, making AI fundamentally different from human learning.
08:46 There is a nehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2ZTC0tkMased to rethink copyright laws to accommodate digital and AI advancements.
09:13 Many agree that AI should benefit both innovators and traditional artists, emphasizing a creator-first approach.

Suno now allows audio input from non-paying customers. so I tried it out with this uku jazz standard I created:

https://suno.com/song/95f80c56-adb8-43a2-b0f4-e8c81d6dc49f

I extended the song and got this:

https://suno.com/song/0046a5b6-4d66-473f-b174-e037d4407db9

The lyric was generated by SUNO

I am enjoying checking out your progression. I am especially interested in hearing people uploading their first recorded intros and a verse with melody then having UDIO pick up verse 2, 3 etc. using the same melody you created, the same instrumentation you uploaded and the lyrics you supply. What that becomes then is what a rich guy gets when he hires session players and a producer to record his music. That is the beauty of where this is going!

Don't let the lack of comments make you think no one is listening. They may not post, but outside people are clicking on your songs, I can see it on my end. Hopefully when one decides to commit to registering, you will still be here uploading to this post. I am considering having an A.I. music board, so if you want that, let me know on the post in the MP3 board. Thanks Bill!

Yes thanks Brian. writing a lyric and getting full music is great fun. I'm just starting to experiment with creating melody and instrument uploads, and will post here as I experiment.
I wanted to create a history of my experience, so I will continue with that here.

Hey Bill,
I'm in love with the very first song you posted in this thread. It sounds a lot like Olivia Rodrigo. You are really on to something with that one. I would write another verse and try to get the chorus to stand out a bit more. Good stuff.

In this post, I created 60 secs of acoustic guitar. I open tuned the guitar and capoed on the fifth fret. here is the file:
https://suno.com/song/6f863ef8-06fb-4be2-99ef-87fd0f2df069

Next, I clicked on "extend" of the file that was created by suno, typed in my lyrics, and prompted for folk, acoustic, etc.

I ran it through and got maybe 8 or so renderings, rewrote the lyric in places. And settled on this:
https://suno.com/song/02eb1fff-3a55-4990-8f7b-f77ba6bdfc21

My take on result: I happy to get the simple music arrangement in there, so my "inputs" are the lyric and a basic melody. the song is simple, definitely beginner, but fun to do.

I look forward to doing more complex music and try singing as well, next one.

So, you told the computer how to play the guitar?

No. It used the fingerpicking and the melody notes I was playing as a base, I made a recording of me improvising on my open tuned acoustic guitar. but filled and added notes as well. I gave it to the Suno software computer and was hoping the computer would hear me say, " match this up w the lyric I just typed in, and compose a good song. My composition was plain. so the song was plain as well.

The computer took my paltry offering, used some of it, a melody note here and there, the fingerstyle rhythm maybe a little bit...so, it didn't use much.

So conclusion....back to the drawing board.....way more musical structure required from me in my feed to the AI software maybe.

So in answer to your question, the reverse is truer....the computer is prompting me for something more structured and musically better.

I created another one, not using my audio, and it was a richer better arrangement composition.

I'm still not getting it... What exactly did you feed the computer to get that original acoustic track?

Apart from this sounding really good,Bill, I thank you for what you are doing on this thread. This type of stuff is invaluable to anyone who comes to this site and IMO this type of writing is where JPF should go in the future and I have encouraged Brian to really get behind what is happening in AI because it ain't going away...when it comes to AI, I'm still crapping my diapers and sucking my thumb but I'm going to come here to learn something about it

Thank you
Steve

I was actually EXCITED for a moment there lol...

Back when everyone was all keyed-up about SOLARIA... lol... I said, "If I were able to just sing into the machine, then choose a voice, that would be a very useful tool."

I'm still looking foreword to that wink

I think this discussion of AI, by prominent JPF members is good:

I did a Karaoke over personal AI generated song. Injects human into the music. Good vocal practice. Loads of fun. Scroll down for how to's

Further to the notion of feeding Suno 60 seconds of lyric and music and the possibility of getting back a good demo.....

I fed the system this:

And got back this:

Just wrote a bad lyric to try a rock-a-billy song....meh. some parts good. amazing guitar and bass.

BUT...

listen to the guitar/drum groove change at 3:03.....I really like that. I am going to isolate that and feed SUNO and get a whole song of it....I'll post results here.

Rock-a-billy instrumental.

But It got me interested and ended up posting in the MP3 forum...with a lyric I wrote very quickly to provide singing:

This stricks me as a good comparison of a nicely written lyric put to music in the convential way.....and with Suno/Udio/Ai way.

https://www.jpfolks.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/1197828/for-rob-gone-by-dawn.html#Post1197828

I want only to mark it , as it moves down the page.

Other then that, regards AI as music generator, only this:

1) Its my ears as sensory informant.
2) Concentrate on making your lyric top notch. The music will take care of itself.

Is it my imagination, or is the music from AI Suno and Udio, beginning to sound all the same, same singers, same melody lines , same arrangements. Darn to my mind , its already starting to sound stale.
Maybe its just because I have a free account.

Anyway, this thread is a memo to self....
I'm bored with AI generated music already.

I'll have to explore some more. Or maybe I should just learn to play my guitar better.

But someone is succeeding with AI:

This to me is startling news, with AI moneymaker on Spotify:

This is not surprising to me...Those creating AI music (not the end users) are highly skilled musicians, arrangers etc...I never bought into AI not being as good as human songwriters...and those who are good songwriters, when they use AI, they will produce great music..and we're just beginning to use AI

Thanks for the post Bill...I'm also on MS

Steve

Hi Steve,
I agree. The folks in the industry are the ones that will best utilize the power of AI generation. This makes me think of an application where money can be made....a DJ, spinning tunes at weddings and birthdays and holiday celebrations.

I like the MS organization. an organized thoughtful bunch.

Ok. found some more fun stuff.

I tried the audio thing again at Suno. I connected a mic, using my interface (a Zoom R8). clicked on upload audio/microphone, and the site allowed me to record some music.

I tapped a rhythm on my table top, and scat sang a do-do-da-da, etc. It created an audio file. I extended that as an instrumental....and I really like what it created!! I can import that to my DAW, and write lyrics and sing to it. I'll try that next.

But its so interesting . I'm from Nova Scotia, I like irish/scottish folk music....and that is what it gave me. Nice.

Here is my upload:

Here is the music extension created by Suno:

I have been exploring another AI song writing site, to change it up some:

https://www.mureka.ai/

Mureka has a useful "create" area. There is a place at the bottom of the lyric input box...three icons....one for copy/paste labelling... verse, chorus, bridge, etc. second one, will write the next line for you. third one will write the whole lyric for you.

This is a good place to just go and write lyrics everyday....stay active in writing to improve.

The site also allows uploading your favorite song from Youtube....as a way of choosing song genre, style, etc.

It also allow music upload from you own mic connection. I did tap on a glass just to test, and it used the sound I created.

I did not find the music that it created very interesting. It gets in a 15 sec groove from the youtube upload, but stays there...no variation.

I did create a lyric by trading lines... I write one AI writes one.
Then I went to suno and created music.
Then I went to udio and created music.

With this experiment, udio was my fav rendition of the song.
