Not cheatin heart.

Its the " career-making honky-tonk anthem that became the artist's first #1 song in 1956. But steel guitar player Ralph Mooney and Chuck Seals are the credited writers and I believe they wrote the song".

Jerry Lee did a cover.

After 10 days of rehearsals, the song was recorded at Bearsville Studios, with Meat Loaf and Ellen Foley providing vocals, producer Todd Rundgren playing guitar, Rundgren's Utopia bandmates Kasim Sulton on bass and Roger Powell on synthesizer, and Roy Bittan and Max Weinberg of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band on piano and drums, respectively. Foley recorded her singing part in one take.[13]

Clue: this song was released in 1963 and peaked at number 3 in January 1964. A one hit wonder, though the songwriter formed his own group in the late ‘60s and had several hits in the ‘70s with that group.

I'll take a turn.

NTT # 151 clue:

This song topped the charts in Australia, Canada, United States, etc in 2024. The chorus sounds very similar to a hit song a number of years ago!
I'll post that song in the next post. Listen to the chorus, and see if you ID - NTT # 151

Shake it off was a good guess Craig! That is not the one I had in mind though. Mines too subjective too maybe.

Another clue:

this song was longest running number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2024. Its a very "boozey" song

Thats it! Good researching Steve. My wife and I belong to a choral group and the one of the new songs we are learning is High Hopes. I had never heard the song before and as we went into the chorus....I knew it.....so I thought thats odd....where did I learn that. Thought for a while then remembered the Shaboozy song, which he sings sooo well.....yeah same chorus. Yeah so. song writers do borrow...lol.

I was wondering how you connected the 2 songs...

Okay, mashup time, whatever that is. Two songs mashed together. Shake It Off/High Hopes.

Thanks for that post Craig. Adds clarity. Its that descending chord and rhythm. Start with that. Add your own melody or borrow someone elses. Prescription for a hit song. Right. easier said then done.
Ok.
Good stuff...thanks.
